Just as fans feared (or cheered) Shat The Movies slipping into a pattern of covering '90s blockbuster films, listener Ben in Japan commissioned "Ravenous" to close out the 2021 Shat calendar. This cannibal Western horror comedy set during the Mexican-American War is about as quirky as cinema gets: a soundtrack by Damon Albarn of Blur, a cartoonish mass murderer, gross-out humor mixed with slapstick giggles. Oh, and Pauly Shore fans who feel horribly underserved by our existing catalog. You might think "In The Army Now" offends veterans of the Army and Army Reserve. It's irreverent, inaccurate, and inappropriate. But at least one Shat warfighter, The Colonel, finds it surprisingly ingenious.  Among the cheap gags, inexplicable plot holes, and strange takes on sexuality is a movie showcasing a young Andy Dick, a sorta hot (according to Ash) Pauly Shore, and a pre-"Tank Girl" Lori Petty. Everyone knows about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's time we gave the DC Animated Universe some love. "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm" marked the first time DC put an animated feature into theaters, and it changed the way we'd see Batman on screen for years to come. This 1993 release was loosely based on the graphic novel "Batman: Year One" and trade paperback "Batman: Year Two," so it had Gene's attention. And Big D watched a lot of "The Animated Series" while stoned in college. Is everyone fair game when it comes to comedy? What if the person lampooning an oppressed group is a member of that group? Does it change if it's a mockumentary?  Listener Justin M. knew he was stirring up trouble when he commissioned 1999's "Drop Dead Gorgeous," a movie that looked at "Clueless" and said, "Hold my beer." Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Murphy, Denise Richards, Amy Adams, and Kirstie Alley had Ash and Big in tears with laughter. When a longtime listener requests a movie review for her 16th birthday, Shat delivers. This week's commission is the 1992 baseball classic "A League of Their Own." In honor of listener Stephanie Q's beloved cat, Priscilla, we review an Australian film that put drag queens on the global stage and opened the door for Ash to educate Gene and Big D on "reading," "spilling tea," and "fishy queens." "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" gave cinema a visual spectacle, a new perspective on homophobia, incredible costumes, and tremendous performances by Hugo Weaving, Terence Stamp, and Guy Pearce. But it also telegraphed its big reveal, marginalized characters based on race and sex, and fell a bit flat in its finale. Big D was so conflicted on his feelings toward "Stand By Me" that he took an extra 24 hours to process the Rob Reiner classic before delivering his verdict. It's not a fun movie, per se, but it generated some honest reflection from the Shat Crew. Shat listeners were appalled when we gave "The Goonies" more than two wipes. When they hear our "The Monster Squad" score, they might just try casting us into a demon dimension.  This '80s cult classic taught us what a pastiche was, illustrated how to explode a werewolf, and modeled perfect '80s parenting.
