However, in the past several weeks, the emails have detailed more serious crimes than our campus is used to. With just over a month to go, the candidates are in the home stretch to make themselves heard. Here’s Jake with what we can expect over the next month in terms of early voting and the presidential election.Barack Obama versus Mitt Romney… in our polarized two party system, third party candidates rarely get the attention that they might deserve. Deondre’ Jones spoke with the coordinator of the event.Fracking: Senate Bill Eight Twenty was passed late last night, when the North Carolina legislature overrode governor Beverly Perdue’s veto. The bill made fracking legal in the state of North Carolina.Andy Griffith: On July 3rd, 2012, North Carolina lost a great son; Andy Griffith died at the age of eighty-six.

Deondre’ Jones recently sat down with an advocate for preventing suicide among our nation’s emergency responders.Chris Hughes was at NC State not too long ago, speaking about the rise of social media in a constantly evolving world and the role it plays in the newsroom.Roller Derby seems to have gotten more popular in the past few years. Jake recently spoke with the Carolina Rollergirls, the Triangle’s very own roller derby team, about the rapidly growing sport.As the Triangle continues to be one of the most rapidly growing population centers in the United State, some see the need for a more comprehensive public transit system.     Herman Cain - Herman Cain made a lot of noise last fall during his bid for president.  From his infamous quoting of a Pokemon movie to his nine nine nine tax plan, Mr. Cain sure knows how to make himself heard.  Mark Herring was at the fair grounds to hear him speak at the twenty twelve Wake County GOP Republican Convention.Cow Milking Contest - In case you missed it, last week was Ag week, an NC State tradition that celebrates this university’s close history with the agriculture community of North Carolina.  The celebrations included games, food, and contests, and Jake was right there in the middle of it all.The People’s Crisis Screening - The humanitarian crisis in North Korea is no secret to the international community. Although Kim Jong Il is gone, it seems the situation is not getting any better.  Last week, the activist group Liberty in North Korea paid a visit to our campus, screening their film “The People’s Crisis” in the Witherspoon Student Cinema.  Deondre’ Jones has more.
