Many country songs resonate with listeners because they are birthed from the trials and tribulations of life. Scripture contains songs that in our day we might call country songs. They brim with real life, and from them we can find application today. One such song was penned by man whose life was marked by affliction and bitterness and in it he expressed hopelessness. Yet his song continued, declaring how he found hope. In your worst affliction you too can find hope if you take time to learn from Scripture’s country song.

For what do we labor? Most of the work we do in this life doesn’t last long. We strive to build little kingdoms in our corner of the world, but even a stone castle can be torn down by the next kingdom builder that comes along. How much better would it be if we focus more of our time and effort on “building projects” that last for eternity!?
