    26/05/2020 Duración: 53min

In the latest OTT Podcast, Casey and Drew have a great interview with Joey Burton, aka The Shot Doctor. The duo talk with Burton about his methods for helping improve players, what he has seen from recent Purdue players, and even gives you some tips at the end to improve your shots in the driveway. It's a fascinating interview and we hope you listen in! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast #19: One Way Football in Wrigley

    11/05/2020 Duración: 48min

As we continue our quarantine, some people want football back; some people want baseball back. So why not talk about a football game that went in only one direction in Wrigley Field (and no, we're not talking about a Hazell coached team when it comes to one-way football). Travis and Paul talk about the return of football to the Friendly Confines in 2010 when Northwestern hosted their in-state rival, Illinois. However, it had been a few decades since the last time a football game was held in Wrigley, and it turns out it could no longer host a football field with sufficient margins behind the end zones. Of course, since no one realized this until the week of the game, some special rules had to be introduced for this game. Paul and Travis talk about these weird quirks in a weird football game in today's podcast. We hope you listen in. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Quarantined & Rails Podcast #2: NFL Draft, Haarms to BYU, & Nojel to test NBA Draft

    27/04/2020 Duración: 35min

Though we still may be staying safer at home, there was some Purdue news over the past week. A few Purdue players were selected in the NFL Draft this weekend, Haarms announced he would transfer to BYU for his last year, and Nojel would test the NBA Draft waters to get some critical feedback before his senior season. Travis, Ledman, and Holmes (with non-helpful quips from Juan) talk about all of this as we finally have something Purdue related to talk about! Though we're not sure what else we'll be able to talk about the rest of the extra long offseason...stay tuned! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Let's Get Quarantined, Sports Podcast #18: Baseball Resuming in Empty Stadiums?

    14/04/2020 Duración: 48min

Since we still don't have much to talk about in terms of Purdue stuff (and the staff being too sad to talk about Haarm's departure), Travis and Paul fill in the time with their side project of the Let's Get Weird/Quarantined, Sports Podcast. Today, they talk about the idea of MLB returning to playing in empty stadiums, and what it was like when the Orioles had to play in an empty stadium due to the 2015 police shooting protests in Baltimore. Just as a warning: Travis and Paul end up going off the deep end on the latter half talking about how many MLB teams already play in empty stadiums, including some, uh, colorful tones regarding the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. And Travis acting like an old man. These guys may need to get outside soon... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast #17: Dock Ellis-D, the Pitcher's No Hitter Game on Acid

    22/03/2020 Duración: 40min

With no sports going in, it's time to have another Let's Get Weird, Sports podcast to help fill in our quarantined lives. Today, Travis and Paul talk about the former Pirates pitcher, Dock Ellis, who ended up throwing a no-hitter in San Diego in the 1970s while high on LSD (it was the 70s, after all). It's certainly an interesting topic and one we hope will keep you entertained during your social distancing. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • Quarantined & Rails Podcast: EVERYTHING IS CANCELED!

    13/03/2020 Duración: 33min

The Big Ten Tournament is canceled. The NCAA Tournament is canceled. All Purdue sports are canceled. But ladies and gentlemen, we are not canceled and the show will go on! And that's because we can keep podcasting as we prepare to quarantine ourselves! Today's special podcast is just Juan, Travis, and Drew reacting to the shut down of all sporting events as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in this country and the world. And at this point, with no more sports, we're not sure what to talk about any more, and Travis may be going crazy. So join us in a special quarantined version of the H&R podcast. • Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast #16: Shenanigans Around the NBA All-Star Weekend

    29/02/2020 Duración: 50min

Given that Purdue has the weekend off, we decided to upload an episode of the Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast, which we usually feature during the offseason as well as any breaks in Purdue's schedule to help fill in some gaps in coverage. Today, Travis and Paul talk about the weird stuff Paul experienced while covering the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago (which will be in Indy next year). But be warned: there's not much basketball coverage and more of the forced interactions Paul had with C and D-list celebrities that weekend, as well as the general complaints from middle age white men about Instagram influencers. Y'all have been warned. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • H&R Basketball Podcast #4: We're Not Dead Yet!

    03/02/2020 Duración: 29min

Purdue Basketball this season has been a roller coaster, and this weekend's game at Northwestern summed up the season quite well. After struggling all season away from Mackey, and in the first 38-ish minutes in Evanston, Purdue pulled out a win at Northwestern, giving them their first conference road win of the season (yeah we know, it was at Northwestern). Travis and Juan break down that game and talk about what this means going forward, and if Purdue can get into the Big Dance in March. Learn more about your ad choices. • Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast #15: The Art Schlichter Story

    11/12/2019 Duración: 36min

Purdue Football is over, it's the middle of the finals break for Purdue Basketball, and the early signing period for football doesn't start for another week. So why not take this time to step away from Purdue for a little bit and talk about the weird stories of the sports world. The Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast is back for "Season 2" (we never really had seasons but Travis and Paul use it anyways), and today they talk about the former Ohio State and Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Art Schlichter. This podcast mainly focuses on his post football life, which involved gambling additions that spiraled into his arrest in 2011. We hope you listen in and enjoy the podcast during the Purdue sports break. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

'Twas the day before football, when all through the house , not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;... Oh hey there. Welcome to a new episode of the Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast! • Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast #13: The 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics

    19/07/2019 Duración: 41min

23 years ago today, the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta kicked off, and they were...weird (hey, we're just living up to the name of our podcast). From constant product placements, single-use stadiums, and events being held by carvings of losers and racists from the Civil War. Oh, and did we mention the weird mascot, Izzy? Some of these may seem normal now, but the Atlanta Olympics started a new trend for the Olympic Games, with some of those starting to be scaled back.  We hope you listen in on this weird podcast, as we try to fill in the doldrums of summer. • Let's Get Weird, Sports Podcast #12: Moses Fleetwood Walker and Cap Anson

    01/07/2019 Duración: 43min

With the Fourth of July this week and being in the thick of the MLB season, Travis and Paul reflect on baseball in the late-1800s, and some of the perils some players went through. Specifically, Moses Fleetwood Walker, one of the first black players in the league, and backlash he faced, especially from Chicago White Stockings player, Cap Anson (the White Stockings eventually became the Chicago Cubs). While often we discuss Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, it was the presence of players like Fleetwood that led to the ban than Robinson eventually lifted. We hope you listen in on this fascinating podcast.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

  • H&R Basketball Podcast #3: Reactions to Carsen Being Selected in NBA Draft

    21/06/2019 Duración: 24min

We decided to record a quick episode of the H&R Podcast as we react to Carsen being drafted by the 76ers (and then traded to the Celtics). The first half is basically just Travis and Juan being silly and waiting for Carsen to be drafted. Given some of the frustrations Purdue fans had last night as they waited, we figured you guys would enjoy some of our pre-selection banter. Afterwards, we react to Carsen's selection, how he ended up in the 2nd round, and whether or not he'll fit at the Celtics. It's a short podcast, so we hope you listen in! With the Elite 8 and B1G Title #24 in the rear view mirror, it's time to look forward to the upcoming 2019-20 season. In today's episode, Juan, Travis, and Kyle talk about some of the new recruits Purdue picked up so far this offseason, as well as a quick look at Purdue's non-conference slate. Additionally, our friend, Paul Banks of TheSportsBank.net, joins us as he reads a chapter from his new book, "No, I Can’t Get You Free Tickets: Lessons Learned From a Life in the Sports Media Industry" where he talks about his first Mackey Arena experience.  Learn more about your ad choices. We hope you listen in and also share with us some of your own Indy 500 stories. Perhaps you can make some new ones this weekend as well! Learn more about your ad choices.
