THAT THING YOU DO
14/05/2021 Duración: 01h59minMUSICAL MAY takes us back to the 1960s, when music was on the radio. Sort of like today. But there weren't phones. Well, they had phones, but the phones didn't have spotify or pornography. Frankly, it was a bad time for everyone. Tom Hanks directed THAT THING YOU DO and we know you love it.

THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
22/04/2021 Duración: 02h18minLeone Month resumes with a literal bang (followed by a thud, and a zoom) as we tackle what may be the best Western of all time, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly. We're joined by western aficionado, Zach Grooten, who has nothing to plug and wants you to know you can't find him anywhere, unless you already know where to find him.

COLLISION COURSE
15/04/2021 Duración: 02h31minWe've been recording episodes very far in advance due to quarantine giving us some extra time. Because of that, we recorded this episode on Collision Course months ago - before the horrific anti-Asian American hate crime shootings in Atlanta-area. We have plenty to say here about how this hate has been going on for a long time, and how shitty racist movies like Collision Course help perpetuate racist sentiments in the second half of the episode. We mostly just talk trash about Jay Leno in the first half. Please donate what you can to the victims families - you can find a link to an article where they are listed individually with links to help out families that are sorely in need. As well, there are plenty of charities doing great work to help out Asian Americans locally across the country. Links are in the article as well - maybe find one that fits your locality, or speaks to your heart. Thanks for listening. We love you all. https://nymag.com/strategist/article/where-to-donate-to-help-asian-communities-

FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE
09/04/2021 Duración: 01h49minThis month continues to put the love in our title, as we cover the second film in Sergio Leone's Dollar trilogy, For a Few Dollars More. Leone adds Van Cleef and a literal monster man in Klaus Kinski to his arsenal, and are six shooters went off quite a bit (this is a reference to western movies featuring a lot of pistols, and also the process of semen coming out of our penii when we get excited.)

A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS
02/04/2021 Duración: 02h14minOur LEONE MONTH spurs forward with A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, Leone's calling card to the world and the movie that made him, and Eastwood, quite in demand - despite not even using his own name. We're joined by Anthony Pizzo! INSIDE OUT
25/03/2021 Duración: 02h26minGive Me a Hug Month is ending with one of the best movies of 2015, Inside Out: a movie literally everybody loves!* Basking in that love, and giving us a much needed auditory hug is returning guest, Andrew Bloom, Senior Editor of Consequence of Sound, and writer at The Spool and The Andrew Blog. You can find some of his wonderful writing at :https://consequenceofsound.net/author/andrew-bloom/?new=true, http://www.theandrewblog.net/ , and @theandrewblog on Twitter. *50% of WLTW's hosts may not feel anywhere close this, and actually dislike it, but this is a good reminder of how anger is an appropriate emotion in some cases

HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE
19/03/2021 Duración: 01h59minHUG MONTH goes international with a recent feel-good movie, the New Zealand HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE, directed by Taika Waititi. A road movie, a comedy, and a coming of age story all in one. We're joined by Lydia Lomeli! She is in the middle of a new vocal performance on a book, so check out her work on "Jeff Davis 8: The True Story Behind the Unsolved Murder That Allegedly Inspired True Detective, Season One" in the meantime! It's on Google, Chirp, and Apple Books. https://play.google.com/store/audiobooks/details/Fergus_Mason_Jeff_Davis_8?id=AQAAAEAcGBVYGM&fbclid=IwAR3v5sq56XwoUWViG8ErYf83xWh2VwNWG23OspZo8Vn1zH-VcNJ8EFyZyNU You can find us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/welovetowatch

BRIGSBY BEAR
11/03/2021 Duración: 01h40minGive Me a Hug Month give a very awkward, but needed, side-hug with 2017's Brigsby Bear! This is one of our favorite movies of the past decade, and we bask in that shared love with The Swampflix Podcast's Brandon Ledet! (find his wonderful work at swampflix.com....even though we all know that curiosity is dangerous.)

FIELD OF DREAMS
03/03/2021 Duración: 01h56minRick Kelley just can't get enough of this Kevin Costner fella and has returned for perhaps the quintessential "big hug" movie, FIELD OF DREAMS. This is a love letter to baseball, to American counter culture, and people with big visions that make everyone think they're nuts. RESOLUTION / THE ENDLESS
26/02/2021 Duración: 02h26minWe're wrapping up It's Groundhog Day....Again...Again Month (again) with a double feature: Resolution and The Endless. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's first and third feature films (respectively) that loop around, mess with elder gods, and collapse in on themselves. If you haven't seen them, we highly recommend watching them together and joining us while we try to figure out how those damn bubbles actually work.

SOURCE CODE
18/02/2021 Duración: 02h10minGroundhog Day month turns the concept of a time loop into a military weapon in Duncan Jones' SOURCE CODE, what could have easily been a mercenary effort but which Jones takes to dark, strange places. Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan kiss also. We're on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/welovetowatch

TIMECRIMES
13/02/2021 Duración: 02h02minDon't do the time crime, if you can't do the crime time! It's Groundhog Day Again....Again month does a loopdy-loop with the great Spanish thriller, Timecrimes! We're joined by guest Ryan Boland, who has known Peter since childhood, and likely has seen him commit many types of crimes...maybe even a timecrime? Next week, we're covering Source Code! (don't believe the liars at the end of the episode who say another movie).

PALM SPRINGS
04/02/2021 Duración: 02h26minIt's Groundhog Day all over again. And again. and again. It's February, so we've got a whole batch of time loop movies to discuss. First, the movie closest to Groundhog Day's structure. Max Barbakow's PALM SPRINGS marked an impressive piece of timing - dropped in the middle of 2020's COVID-19 quarantine, a film about being "stuck" in time resonated with a lot of us. As well, it came at a key point in Lonely Island's transformation, as they begin to get more ambitious and more daring in their productions.

BLACK MOUNTAIN SIDE / THE BEACH HOUSE
27/01/2021 Duración: 02h04minWe're wrapping up Lovecraft and Other Drugs Month with two little seen Lovecraft-inspired movies worth seeking out. The first, Black Mountain Side, with caveats, and the other, The Beach House, unreservedly. So let's take one more climb up the mountain, and another dip in the sea, to find the terror that waits for us all....

DARK WATERS (1993)
19/01/2021 Duración: 01h16minLOVECRAFT AND OTHER DRUGS covers Mariano Baino's DARK WATERS (no, not the Todd Haynes one!), a Lovecraft/Catholicism mashup that finds as much to fear in secret Catholic orders as the esoteric manners of cosmic horror sea gods. You can find us on Patreon to help us keep the lights on!
-
UNDERWATER (2020)
13/01/2021 Duración: 01h22minLovecraft and Other Drugs Months hit rock bottom (of the ocean) when we cover a recent movie that (spoiler based on what month we added it to) is a surprise Lovecraft adaptation. That movie? 2020's Underwater starring Kstew and Vcass, a movie that may be the last movie some of our audience ever saw in an actual movie theater!

06/01/2021 Duración: 02h35minThe color. It buuuuuuurns. We kick off our LOVECRAFT & OTHER DRUGS month with Richard Stanley's adaptation of THE COLOUR OUT OF SPACE. A trippy cosmic horror freakshow that matches Stanley's love for psychedelia with Nicholas Cage's love for freakouts. You can find us on Patreon!
