Wise organizational leaders and managers understand the sovereign, intentional, and strategic nature of God. And they know that Jesus is Lord and Christ. This means that both organizations and individuals find dignity, value, and purpose in relationship to and alignment with Christ. Consequently, the only true metric of success is alignment with Christ—his will done his ways in his timing for his glory. And the C4 Principle is a tool to help facilitate this alignment.

Accordingly, they recognize that the best choice for every position in an organization is always a person who has C4 to perform the work assignment. The C4 principle should guide all hiring, reviewing, promoting, and releasing decisions. Leaders and managers apply this biblical tool to facilitate alignment with God’s will for individuals and organizations. One of the predicates for organizational success is the right people in the right positions. The C4 principle is a tool that enables leaders and managers to achieve success.

Wise organizational leaders understand the divine definition of good works. They seek to discern God's will. They study Scripture to learn God's ways. They prayerfully seek God's timing. And they hold each other accountable to the singular motive of God's glory. These leaders build cultures within organizations that embrace this biblical definition of good works. Consequently, the fruit of organizations committed to God's will, ways, timing, and glory will be good!

Wise organizational leaders will be regulated by the principles of the Bible. They will build organizations with stakeholders who are also so governed. Seeking to deliver value without a sound foundation in Scripture is folly and will not produce enduring success. True value can only be produced through faithful obedience to the principles that emanate from the Creator. This will produce true value and true success.

Organizational leaders must be clear about what God is building and seek to build with him. People and organizations are created to fulfill a role in the metanarrative. The challenge is to see our roles and serve the purpose of God by fulfilling our roles according to the will and ways of God. This is the only way to true success in life individually and organizationally. When organizations function this way, they will deliver excellent value and be profitable because they are building with God. Attempting to build any other way will be vanity and failure.

Wise organizational leaders recognize the importance of building organizations with people who are disciples of Jesus. Such people live like Jesus, who modeled a holistic lifestyle regulated by Scripture. On issues to which Scripture speaks unequivocally, disciples obey Scripture. On issues to which Scripture is equivocal (not clear), disciples engage in ethical reflection with the assistance of other godly people, seeking wisdom from Scripture. This is the way of a disciple of Jesus. Organizations whose stakeholders live like Jesus will bear enduring fruit for the glory of God. This is true success.

Wise organizational leaders and managers must learn how to read the signs of the times so that they will know how to respond to societal trends. The way forward is always alignment with the will and ways of God. This is the only path to divine blessings. Any misalignment with God will lead to judgment. In every way possible, leaders and managers must teach, support, and practice Christian values and principles. Enduring economic blessings are tied to obedience to God. There can be no compromise.

Don’t be fooled by financial prosperity. Financial prosperity gained through a heart of righteousness is a blessing and will be used to honor and glorify God. However, financial gain accumulated through a heart of wickedness is a setup for judgment. Wise leaders and managers understand the ways of God regarding financial wealth and seek to align with the will and ways of God. This means they govern their organizations according to God’s metrics as revealed in Scripture. This is the only way to achieve sound financial blessings and enduring success in God’s universe.

Wise management will seek to use money to trade up to transcendent wealth, such as, wisdom, righteousness, and reputation. While profit is a Christian value, it is not the seminal value. Nor is money the metric of success. True success emanates from obedience to the will of God; therefore, temporal wealth is simply a tool that reveals mankind’s heart condition. An organization led by leaders and managers whose hearts are inclined to the Lord will define success as obedience to the will of God and will use money as a tool to trade up to gain transcendent wealth.
