Libya: Slavery, Migration, and Conflict
10/12/2017 Duración: 36minCNN's footage of slave markets in Libya disturbed and outraged the world, as it should. It's an image we all want to be in the past. But while underground, slavery and slave auctions still exist. Migrations flows and trafficking in Libya are nothing new, though continued conflict in a failed state has greatly exacerbated the situation. Hosts Seth Daire and JJ Janflone talk about the recent conflict, displacement, trafficking, and how all that has created a situation where slave markets can be found in Libya. What Surprised Us About Slavery and Trafficking
19/11/2017 Duración: 35minSeth and JJ talk about what surprised them as they began to learn about slavery and trafficking. Though more can and should be done to end slavery, which has been continually with us, chattel slavery was ended in England at a time when slavery was an accepted norm that it was foolhardy to fight. Things can change through the efforts of many everyday people, as it did when England ended slavery within its empire in 1833. Many are unaccompanied minors due to the fact that gangs are often targeting youth.
