Seth and JJ talk about what surprised them as they began to learn about slavery and trafficking. Though more can and should be done to end slavery, which has been continually with us, chattel slavery was ended in England at a time when slavery was an accepted norm that it was foolhardy to fight. Over 1,700 inmates firefighters joined professional firefighters to stop the recent wildfires in Northern California. They are part of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Conservation Camp program, and make up a third of all firefighters in California, saving the state over $80 million, while being paid $2/day and between $1-2/hour. Forced gang recruitment is a big problem in the Northern Triangle (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras), with migrants fleeing out of the region to other countries, including the US. Many are unaccompanied minors due to the fact that gangs are often targeting youth.
