The time has finally come for God to deliver on his promise to Abraham that a son would be born to Sarah and him. They name him Isaac, which in Hebrew means "laughter." In this sermon, Pastor Aaron focuses on the many reminders God gave of his promise as Abraham waited for God to deliver on the promise.

As we continue our journey through Genesis this week, there is a slight pause in the story of God's promise to Abraham as we see the significant wickedness of God's people in Sodom and Gomorrah. How do we make sense out of God's harsh judgment against sin once again? Watch this.

On Sunday, August 11th, guest preacher, Rev. David Weber reminded us once again of the everlasting covenant that God made with Abram, which is ultimately fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Abram and Sarai had received the promise of God that they would have a multitude of descendants. But, after waiting and waiting and nothing happening, they take matters into their own hands. This sermon explores "both sides of the story." It looks at it from the side of Abram and Sarai, and then also from the side of Hagar. There is something for all of us to relate to on one or both sides of the story.

In Genesis 12, God calls out to Abram to pick up and move his family to Canaan. What did Abram do? He listened to God's word. He trusted God. He put his faith in God. This sermon emphasizes the simple importance to let God be God, and to trust His Word.

Genesis 11 tells the history of how humanity rebelled once again by desiring to make a name for themselves by building a giant toward to reach the heavens. This time, God's response to their rebellion was to confuse their language so that they could no long communicate with one another so clearly.

It's one of the most well-known stories in the Bible whether people believe in the Bible or not. The Flood. It's time for us to open up the Scriptures to Genesis 5-10 as we continue our journey through the Book of Genesis. There is much that could be said and preached about regarding this part of the narrative. While it is all important, and merits some good conversation, this sermon zeroes in on one particular image: water.

How quickly sin intensifies from Genesis 3 to Genesis 4. The first death recorded in human history is a murder of a brother by his brother. Cain becomes angry with his brother and he kills him! God warned Cain, "Sin is crouching at your door. You must rule over it." In this sermon, we are encouraged to find strength in the Lordship of Jesus that sin would not have mastery over us.

In Genesis 1 and 2, we see how perfect God created things to be. As soon as we turn into Genesis 3, things start to fall apart. This sermon stays very close to the words of Genesis 3 expounding on the origins of sin and its affects on our world today.

While Genesis 1 is like a zoomed out version of creation, Genesis 2 zooms in to talk specifically about the creation of humanity and the uniqueness of humans. Pastor Aaron was out of town this weekend and so this sermon was recorded in advance of Sunday services and was played during the services on June 23rd.

On this Father's Day we started a new sermon series titled "Beginning God's Way" which will be a 12 week series covering the first 25 chapters of the Book of Genesis. Today, we begin where it all begins Genesis 1, "In the beginning, God created."

On the Day of Pentecost the promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit - came upon the disciples with great power. They were enabled to boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus and initiate the command of Jesus to be His witnesses to all nations. note: The band and choir from Living Word Lutheran High School in Jackson, WI were our special guests on this day and provided wonderful music for our services.

Jesus appears to his disciples after his resurrection. Luke records that Jesus "opened their minds to understand the Scriptures." They finally get it. They know who Jesus is and what he has done for them. They understand. In this sermon we explore if understanding is enough. Is it enough as a Christian to simply know who Jesus is? Or, is there more to it?

Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations." These words are often called The Great Commission. What does it mean to be commissioned to a task? Who's mission is it to start with? This sermon explores these significant words of Jesus and directly applies them to our lives today.

We had a very special guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. David Kim. He is a dear friend and personal discipleship coach for Pastor Aaron Gehrke. Dr. Kim led a discipleship training on Saturday, May 11th and preached God's Word from the Book of Ruth. He's often called "Doubting Thomas" however the problem with Thomas was not so much doubts as it was a flat-out refusal to believe in the resurrection of Jesus. He was an unbeliever. Yet, Jesus still came to him and Jesus came for him. And Thomas could not help but confess, "My Lord and My God!"

After the resurrection of Jesus, he spent 40 days appearing to people validating his resurrection. Just like an aftershock of an earthquake, these appearances were like aftershocks of Easter. They originate with Jesus and are triggered by the main shock of his death and resurrection. In this first sermon in the series, we see how Jesus appeared to two of his followers on the road to Emmaus. In this story, those followers start by being heartbroken, but in the end, their hearts burn with the passion of the risen savior Jesus.

On Easter morning the crown of thorns was exchanged for the crown of victory! Christ's victory is our gain. The crown of life is our eternal inheritance!

The Cross is the most well-known image associated with Christianity throughout the world. But The Cross was a death penalty. A gruesome death penalty. Yet, this is what we hang on the front of our churches, and place on our steeples. What we believe about Jesus all comes down to what happened on the cross.
