Oh man, what do we say about our next topic. We came into this movie, hoping for a cool story, with magic, and music! I guess I'm not sure what it is that we actually got, but that is for you all to decide on as well. For this episode, we are talking about the Ghibli movie, Earwig and the Witch!  Earwig and the Witch tells the story of a young orphan. She was left at an orphanage, by a witch, who may or may not also be her mother. One day, out of pure luck, she is chosen by a family, who happen to use magic as well. There really isn't much else to say here. The story ends, a little abruptly, before we can really even get into the crux of the plotline. Maybe, they'll put out a sequel, or a 1.5, in order to really tell the rest of the story? Have you guys seen this movie yet? What did you think? It's pop culture classic time everyone!! For those of you who don't know, right now we have two Patreon supporters, who support us at the "Director" tier. What that means, is that they get to choose a pop culture subject every other choice. For this subject, our supporter Jason, chose the president film, Dave. Dave is a film from the 90's, that stars Kevin Kline, and Sigourney Weaver. Kevin Kline's character is the perfect look alike for the current in universe president, and is hired to stand in for the president, for a certain event. In the middle of all of this, the real president has a stroke, and is essentially dead. Now, Dave is set into the middle of a scheme to keep him as president for a while. Sigourney Weaver, plays the president/Dave's estranged wife. It's a pretty heartwarming story! Our topic for the day, happens to be packed with some star power. How could a movie with Denzel Washington, Jared Leto, and Rami Malek miss on this movie, or did they? The Little Things is about two police officers, from different backgrounds, who happen to share a similar "quality," in their obsession. Gabriel Iglesias is a pioneer, as far as the comedy industry goes! So, you know that whatever he was going to do, as far as a series goes, was going to be just as fun as he is, during his comedy! I think that he hit it out of the park, with his Netflix series, Mr. Iglesias! Mr. Iglesias, of course, stars Gabe, playing an exaggerated version of himself, who is a history teacher at Woodrow Wilson High School! One of the great things about this series, is of course, how extremely funny the cast is as a whole! For today's episode, we are taking a look at one movie, but that was done twice. The original, came out in 2003, and is a Korean action thriller!  The original OldBoy tells the story of Oh Dae-Su! He is a businessman who gets kidnapped, seemingly out of nowhere, to be pulled into a web, that encompasses a years long plan of revenge! After spending fifteen years of time as a captor, he's magically released. Now with nothing but the taste of dumplings, and a NEED to find his captor, he goes on a revenge mission of his own. Now, the 2013 remake, follows the original movie, almost exactly. There are only a few differences, and one of them is the ending. They have two distinct endings. The remake, stars Josh Brolin, and Elizabeth Olsen. What in the holy hell has been going on since Avengers: Endgame? With the Tony Stark Avengers behind us, what have some of our favorite Avengers been up to?  Well, if you're asking this question, the first three episodes of WandaVision might not give you ANY answer that you seek! We know that Vision has been dead since Avengers: Infinity War, but somehow he is in this series, with Scarlet Witch herself, Wanda Maximoff. How is that happening? Well, through the third episode, we still don't know! There was a lot of hope for this series, and as of this writing, there are, I believe, two more episodes that have been released, which may explain more and more. But, through, what we were able to watch, as of this recording, a whole lot of NOTHING has happened. Is Wanda dreaming, or keeping everyone prisoner in this city? Is the government in charge? Mikey is portrayed by the super talented actor, Fabrizio Guido! You might remember Fabrizio from his roles in World War Z, Welcome to the Family, Con La Misma Moneda, and more!! Fabrizio is absolutely hilarious in Mr. Iglesias! Not too long ago, we had a ton of fun, speaking about a small Alien movie, titled Alien Raiders! Chosen by Doyle, as a pop culture classic, we weren't sure quite how this movie was going to be received, by the team. BUT, boy did it blow our minds, how fun this movie was! Our next pop culture classic episode, comes to from the year 2000, a full 21 years ago. This movie is one of the progenitors for movies like The Hunger Games. This movie is a foreign film, that, for 11 years, was never officially released in the United States or Canada. There was a lot of concern for it to be distributed in North America, due to it's violence, and school themes. We are of course speaking about the movie, Battle Royale! In a not too distant future, Japan has passed an official act, in order to try and curb "juvenile delinquency." This see's groups of kids in school, who are forced to participate, in a fight to the death. Only one person is supposed to survive, and be considered the winner, by this totalitarian government.  From this of course, we get a TON of over the top violence, mixed in with some subtle messaging. For this movie/topic, we are going back into the past, put a little bit further into the future than the original! We're going back into the future, to 1984, for the next installment of Wonder Woman, aptly titled, Wonder Woman 1984. At this point in time, Diana is still mourning the death of the love of her life, Steve, while having to move on/into the future without him. There are two main villains featured in this movie, you decide whether that is a good or a bad thing. We're introduced to Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig, and Maxwell Lord, played by Pedro Pascal. There's a lot of wishing going on during the movie, which brings by someone's love, plus a lot of wishes that are also rescinded. PLUS, we get two new powers, and a new suit from Diana. And here we are, capping off our awesome "season of Supernatural," with a great interview to end the mega marathon!! Hard to find a better interview to end our Supernatural run, than The Darkness herself, Amara!  Of course, Amara is played by the wonderful, Emily Swallow!! We were able to speak to Emily about some of her thoughts behind, what her frame of mind is, for playing something that is more than human, in the deity that her character is. Of course, though, we couldn't talk to Emily without at least mentioning some of her work, as The Armorer, in the first season of The Mandalorian! The Armorer, is essentially, the narrator of the first season, and the reason that Din Djarin goes on his quest, in the second season. While speaking to her about The Mandalorian, she speaks about what is different in her acting, from these projects, to projects like Castlevania. Emily is killing it on the screen right now! Kevin Tran became a very prominent & important character in the Supernatural world, especially towards the very end of the series. And, of course, Kevin Tran is played by the wonderful actor, Osric Chau. You'll remember Osric, obviously from Supernatural, but also from Mister French Taste, Crisis on Infinite Earths (Flash, Arrow, & The Legends of Tomorrow), and of course Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.
