Sinopsis

I blog every Monday at www.anotherworldisprobable.com and this podcast is me reading those posts. For years people asked me whether I had a blog and the answer was always "no," until one day it was, "yes."I started "Another World is Probable" as a nod to the World Social Forum's annual theme, "Another World is Possible." There's also that quote from Arundhati Roy who says, "Another world is not only possible, she's on the way and, on a quiet day, if you listen very carefully you can hear her breathe."In my opinion, we've moved beyond the cusp of possibility and into the realm of reality. Episodios

  • The Pearl and the Oyster

    30/03/2020 Duración: 04min

You know the expression “the world is your oyster”? If you think about it, the phrase doesn’t really match the connotation we have with it. We say “the world is your oyster” when we want to indicate the world is wide open, that you have numerous opportunities available to you, that sort of thing. But have you seen an oyster? They’re closed tightly, they’re dark inside. They are not warm and inviting. More in this week's post. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • COVID-19 and the Global Society

    23/03/2020 Duración: 04min

There's a lot of harm coming from COVID-19. I don't have to tell you that, you already know. But I also wonder if some good can come from this virus. If perhaps we'll move to a more global society. More in this week's post. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • Maybe Believing Makes It So

    16/03/2020 Duración: 03min

Lately I've been thinking about how as much as history is filled with stories of human suffering, it's also filled with stories about overcoming it. In my own life, I'm prone to tell the former more than the latter. But what if I focused more on the positive? Would believing life can and will get better make it so? • OK God, OK

    09/03/2020 Duración: 04min

It's been a doozy of a week what with the primaries in the U.S. and the coronavirus sweeping the world. There's lots of fear and panic in the air. What are we supposed to do? How do we handle a situation that we have so little control over? The answer in this week's post.  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • All is Provided

    02/03/2020 Duración: 04min

I've written about this topic several times over the years, but it bears repeating. Right now as I'm in a transition phase of my life, being self-employed and all, I'm building my faith muscle. Particularly, faith that everything I need is and will be provided. At the same time, I'm working to let go of control and to trust that all will be well. • Some Things Will Happen Anyway

    24/02/2020 Duración: 05min

There are certain things that are meant for us in this lifetime. We can't run away from them as much as we try. It's why the healthiest person you know gets cancer. Or your friend can't find a job despite applying all over creation. It would be easy to sink into defeatism here. To say, “Oh well. That's my fate. Can't do anything about it,” but that's both true and not true. More in this week's post. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • This Life Belongs to Love

    17/02/2020 Duración: 04min

I'm reading a life-changing book and it's reminding me of some essential truths I'd forgotten about love, surrender, and ownership. More in this week's post.  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • What's the Boundary of Your Identity?

    10/02/2020 Duración: 04min

When you ask someone, “Who are you?” They'll likely state their name and then other labels like gender, age, ethnicity, etc. If you ask them to go a little deeper, they might start talking about their family or nationality. Maybe they'll mention their political affiliation. All of that is fine – I'm not saying there's anything wrong with identifying in that way, but can identity go further than that? If we stop our identity at a certain point, when I talk about “my” children and “your” children, it's easier for me to put “your” children in cages. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • Re-Souling

  • The Wound is Also the Gift

    27/01/2020 Duración: 03min

I heard the title of this quote on a podcast a few months back and it stuck with me because it rang true, but I also wasn't quite sure how. This week provided clarity on how the wound can also be the gift. Listen to find out.  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • Divine Matchmaking

    20/01/2020 Duración: 03min

    13/01/2020 Duración: 04min

Sometimes I let obstacles knock me down, keep me from moving forward. However, I'm trying something new and that's flowing around obstacles like a river. More in this week's post.  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • Small but Mighty

    23/12/2019 Duración: 04min

Right now it's Hanukkah. A part of me doesn't want to admit I'm Jewish because of the rise of antisemitism, but then I'm reminded that's a theme of Hanukkah: a small but mighty group defeating an oppressive force. • Cosmic Arrogance

    18/11/2019 Duración: 04min

For the past few weeks I've been thinking about self-confidence and what I believe I'm capable of. I think I'm capable of very little. But isn't that arrogant if the universe keeps saying otherwise? More in this week's post. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/another-world-is-probable/support

  • Becoming the Ocean

    04/11/2019 Duración: 03min
