Sinopsis

New York City comedians Katie Compa and Raquel DApice present Kid/Life Crisis, a bi-weekly podcast about an exhilarating, panic-inducing topic in many women's lives: deciding whether to become a parent or to stay child-free. Katie and Raquel sit down with comedians, writers, executives and more to talk about their experiences, and crack a few (possibly inappropriate) jokes along the way. New episodes go live every other Wednesday. Music by www.bensound.com.

Episodios

  • Episode 6: Jess Wood

    29/04/2015 Duración: 52min

It's back to the land of the childfree as Katie and Raquel chat with fellow New York City comedian Jess Wood, aka "Jess, our friend who got shot in a drive-by." Jess essentially raised herself (...and her mom) among the hippies in Los Angeles's Topanga Canyon, where she cut school, did drugs and ran with punk-rock kids, deadheads, and L.A. gangs before she began acting and doing comedy. We go delightfully off-topic as Raquel learns to differentiate Fred Segal from Fred Willard and recounts her glory days in Malibu, and the episode title reveals itself. Music: www.bensound.com

  • Episode 5: Virginia Sole-Smith

    15/04/2015 Duración: 46min

Raquel and Katie with freelance writer Virginia Sole-Smith at her home in the Hudson Valley, where she lives with her husband and their adorable daughter, Violet. Virginia gives us the scoop on 18th-century fertility statistics, endometriosis, and working from home with a kid, and shares her own story of making her way through a medical emergency as a new mom.   Check out Virginia's body of work via any or all (we recommend all!) of the following: Website (and articles!): virginiasolesmith.com Twitter: @v_solesmith Instagram: @v_solesmith Facebook.com/virginiasolesmith   Music by bensound.com

  • Episode 4: Leslie Russell

    01/04/2015 Duración: 50min

Katie and Raquel talk with Leslie Russell, Raquel's sister-in-law's sister-in-law (we promise this is the last time we interview Raquel's relatives for at least a while). Leslie is a wedding planner extraordinaire, and a VERY pregnant mom-extraordinaire-to-be (since we talked, she's delivered a baby girl)! We talk about subway etiquette, sleepwalking, relationships with and without kids, having an actual Supermom, and the scariest late-night Google searches.

  • Episode 3: Melissa Friedman

    18/03/2015 Duración: 47min

Episode 3 - Melissa Friedman Katie and Raquel talk with Raquel's sister-in-law, Melissa Friedman, who with her husband runs a nonprofit theater company, Epic Theatre Ensemble (EpicTheatreEnsemble.org) in New York City, where they also happen to be raising their eight-year-old daughter, Imogen. We talk master plans, doing improv with a three-year-old, raising a feminist daughter in a sea of pink, handling the teen years (and whether it's possible), and watching her child develop from an offshoot of herself and her husband into her own person. Please LISTEN, LIKE, SHARE!   Music by www.bensound.com

  • Episode 2: Jennifer Dziura

    04/03/2015 Duración: 48min

Katie and Raquel talk with Jennifer Dziura of GetBullish.com, a website that provides business and career advice to young women and runs an annual conference (more info soon at BullishConference.com), and mother of an 11-month-old. We cover the "normal" symptoms of pregnancy, customized sonograms, personal boundaries, "the M-word," gender expectations and time management, and how best to to prepare for a baby in an expensive city--without waiting too long.   Music by www.bensound.com

  • Episode 1: Chelsea White

    17/02/2015 Duración: 48min

Katie Compa and Raquel D'Apice are starting a podcast: Kid/Life Crisis. Their first guest is Chelsea White, comedian, host, and producer on MTV's Girl Code. Chelsea's known since she was young that she never wants children, yet she continually finds herself defending her decision, or being told, "You'll change your mind." She talks with Katie and Raquel about how it affects friendships, dating, and family relationships, and why she's still sure it's right for her.
