  • Marshall Miles Interviews-Rune Tonsgaard: Dreamers’ Circus On Tour In The United States Thru October 5

    20/09/2022 Duración: 09min

Late one night in 2009 Nikolaj Busk pushed open the door of a bar in Copenhagen and chanced upon fiddle player Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen and cittern player, Ale Carr, playing some traditional Nordic tunes. Spotting a piano in the corner of the room Nikolaj joined the pair. Within minutes it became clear that there was an instant musical chemistry happening. Since that first meeting Dreamers’ Circus has toured widely, performing not just in our native Scandinavia but also throughout Europe and in Japan, Australia and North America.  More than ten years later the journey goes on for us all. While we all have various musical backgrounds what unites us is an interest in, and love for, folk and traditional music. Rune grew up in a household where traditional dance and music was important but he also studied classical music and to this day plays as a member of the world-class chamber music ensemble, Danish String Quartet. Nikolaj’s background in jazz is evident in his fluid and melodic playing while Ale

  • Marshall Miles Interviews Rob Sedgwick, Hotchkiss Library ZOOM Event: Free Virtual Book Discussion of “Bob Goes to Jail” with Author Rob Sedgwick in Conversation with Mark Scarbrough, Oct 6 at 7PM

    16/09/2022 Duración: 16min

Rob Sedgwick was born into one of America’s oldest families and Manhattan royalty. His cousin, Edie Sedgwick, was Andy Warhol’s muse. His sister is Kyra Sedgwick, the actress; his brother is painter Nikko Sedgwick; his brother-in-law is movie star Kevin Bacon, and his stepfather was renowned art dealer Ben Heller, who pioneered the careers of Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko. So, to say Rob has struggled to stand out in a family of big personalities is a huge understatement. In his memoir, Bob Goes to Jail, Rob relates his journey from lost little boy to inept criminal with such honesty and heart that you can’t help but root for him. More than the memoir of a man, Bob Goes to Jail is the story of the search for love, the yearning for acceptance, and the struggle to find oneself. Sedgwick, has the drop-dead good looks of Robert Redford and the judgment of Keith Richards. Though you cringe at each bad decision―and there are so many―it’s impossible not to fall in love with him and hope he find
