Julie offers three principles that will help us endure suffering.

We were created to be in relationship with God. When that part of us is neglected, the result is discontentment and despair.

Dragged through the streets, pushed onto the Temple floor, the woman caught in adultery awaits her fate. Her accusers are intent on more than punishing her infidelity. Jesus sees through to their darker motives, and gives everyone involved a surprising response. No one leaves the courtyard unchanged.

She approached Jesus with a need. She got more than she bargained for. One touch of his garment, and she was instantly cured. But Jesus had a far greater healing in mind.

A wonderful part of Christmas is in the unexpected moments: the perfect gift you didn't even know you wanted, the funny moments that come without warning, the new recipes that make Christmas dinner that much more special. God is the master at performing the unexpected. On the night Christ was born, the unexpected dominated the story. We can learn from these things that we can trust God-- even when he does the unexpected.

Peter wrote his readers: "Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles so that... they may, because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation." How does this look fleshed out in every day life? Submission! This week we take a look at appropriate response to those who are in authority in society. Even when they are inappropriate themselves.

You are going to suffer as a Christian... and you are going to survive! God plans to use suffering as a crucible, a means of purification of your life. Peter gives us four keys to surviving suffering in this passage. Listen to how we can find hope even in suffering, based on 1 Peter 4:12-19.
