Have you ever read a book where things got a little intense with the main character and you flipped ahead a few pages to see what happens? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do that in your own life? In a way, you can. The story God’s telling is the story of His Church and that means you. And as Bishop Lance tells you today, that story is already written. You can turn to the end of the book and see that the enemy has been defeated. However, you still need to walk out that victory and see your part through.

Have you ever been outside the city limits and seen the night sky? The number of stars you can see is overwhelming, but it doesn’t even make up a hundred-thousandth of one percent of how many there actually are. When you think about how God created all of that, it’s easy to feel insignificant. But Bishop Lance tells you today that the God of all creation created you. There’s no limit to what God can do, but He chooses to work through His creation to accomplish His will. He’s chosen you.

Jesus said that we can do nothing apart from Him. He said that He is the author and perfector of our faith, not us. He said that He is at work in us both to will and work for His pleasure. So, does that mean we kick back and just go with the flow? Bishop Lance tells you in today’s message that you have a part to play in what God’s doing. That God works through you to change the world around you. You were created on purpose and for a purpose, but you must join God in His work to see that fulfilled.

We live in a culture where comfort is king. Where everything’s geared toward how much we can get and how much we can do to make our lives easier and more comfortable. If we take an honest look at our lives, we’ll see that this is true more often than not. How many opportunities do we let pass because it’s easier to stay where we are? We know that God is good and that He always and only does what’s right. But when we look at the world around us and all the things going wrong, even in our own lives, it’s hard to remember that God’s at work. But Bishop Lance explains to you in today’s message that sometimes when things fall apart, it’s not because God isn’t at work or that He doesn’t care – it’s because He allows you to go your own way and when you go your own way, things fall apart. While this is typically expected of non-believers, even believers alike can have a skewed misunderstanding of the purpose behind God’s judgment.
