  • Episode 160 - It's a Wonderful Life (1:09:37)

    22/12/2019 Duración: 01h09min

Merry Christmas! Our pal Mike C. joins us to get in on a little Jimmy Stewart flick called, “It’s A Wonderful Life.” We'll get into over this one as we have a sneaking suspicion that Robert doesn't like this one. We'll make sure to ring that bell so some wings get redistributed properly. We get into all sorts of discussions about the market and how it serves people better and at varying levels of quality and price. We talk about bank runs and how they are a check on poor policy and we also discuss how kindness begets kindness and how treating your fellow man as you would like to be treated makes the world a better place. Not to mention my side-quest into Ancient Aliens and the Pyramid Code. This is a fun one.Join us next week as Raylene Lightheart returns for a New Year's movie, "When Harry Met Sally".Show notes: http://www.actualanarchy.com/160Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.comRobert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for p

    24/11/2019 Duración: 01h14min

We tackle "Cast Away" for our Thanksgiving episode this year as Tom Hanks' final words in the film are "Thank you". We want to express our gratitude for our listeners and the abundance afforded us by the vestiges of capitalism that raise the standard of living so that luxuries of the past are taken for granted in the present. Our guest is Keith Knight of “Don’t Tread on Anyone” and “Liberty Weekly”. This guy can talk a mile a minute, so we’ll try to keep up.Show notes: http://www.actualanarchy.com/156Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.comRobert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarc

    10/11/2019 Duración: 01h05min

We commemorate the 101st anniversary of the armistice marking cease-fire and the end to hostilities in the Great War, now known as World War I, as it, unfortunately, set the table for a 2nd conflict that was even larger and now featured nazis and communists.Peter Jackson's documentary-take on the conflict in "They Shall Not Grow Old" which is a bringing-to-life account of the footage that is over 100 years old, with interviews from about 50 years ago mated with modern technology to bring vibrancy and color to the footage to bring a never-before-experienced look at the horrors of the Great War.Our pal, Mike C. joins us for the discussion as our stars went out alignment with Jeff Deist of the Mises Institute who is running an event with Ron Paul this weekend. 03/11/2019 Duración: 01h35min

Dry land is not a myth. We haven't seen Waterworld six times like the Cable Guy, but we have seen it enough times and recently enough to do an episode on it with our pal, Peter R. • Episode 151 - Joker (1:16:53)

    20/10/2019 Duración: 01h16min

Striking while the iron is hot, so to speak, we talk "Joker" which is taking October by storm becoming a box office sensation breaking all sorts of records. This of course, after critics panned it and mainstream media classified it as "dangerous". This isn't just a comic book movie, this is a fully articulated film that could shed its comic skin and still have significant impact. We had planned on having our Batman-man from Australia, but he has come down with an illness, so Captain A who was our guest for "Crazy Heart" who had also approached us to talk about the movie will be our guest this week.Next week, we'll be bringing you an obliquely Halloween-themed flick, "The Karate Kid" with the uniquely awesome Raylene Lightheart of Blastoff! with Johnny Rocket.Show notes: http://www.actualanarchy.com/151Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.comRobert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of th

Limber up and get ready to enjoy the little things as we welcome back Rachel from Cannabis Heals Me to talk about "Zombieland". The new one is currently in theaters now, so we thought it would be a good time to hit up the original. This is not an SJW-friendly movie, which is just our style. It's even got the great Bill Murray in it. It's time to nut up or shut up!Why are we alive when everybody around us has turned to meat?Coming up next, we'll put on a happy face and send in the clowns with a review of the hot topic movie, "Joker". Joining us will be our Batman-man from down under, the wonderful Shaheen.Show notes at: http://www.actualanarchy.com/150Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.comRobert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread

    29/09/2019 Duración: 01h13min

We welcome back Olof the Anarcho Viking to discuss a movie he claims is so awesome that he's watched it 20 times. "Spirited Away" is an award-winning visual masterpiece with a coming-of-age story fused with the Shinto religion... Asian Fusion if you will. It's not exactly good for young kids, but it does have some interesting and somewhat confusing things happening that might be great if you're on an acid trip.Olof was our guest for “The Outlaw King” where we brought some of that triple-H heat to the discussion. You can check that out at Actual Anarchy. Com / 107 and Last Nighters . 15/09/2019 Duración: 01h18min

We are back to discuss "Straight Outta Compton" with the Afrolibertarian. NWA unleashed a whole new genre of music, telling stories of how it is in their neighborhood and with a brash tone that called immediate attention to their daily plight. They found a large audience, even out in suburban America, to make an indelible impact that stays with us to this day. This is a sentimental journey that only scratches the surface of all the topics we wanted to discuss. Per our guest's recommendation in our post-show bonus content, if you want a fuller picture of the story check out "The Defiant Ones" on HBO.Catch us next week as we discuss Clint Eastwood's "The Mule" with returning guest, Rocky Ferrenburg.Show notes and more at: http://www.actualanarchy.com/146Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.comRobert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that c

Prepare to generate 1.21 Gigawatts and get your damn hands off her.We get into some conspiracy and predictions from the film and also talk about whether we’d be willing to go back to 1955 ourselves - and give up all the improved standard of living since then.
