Season of Thankfulness
01/12/2022 Duración: 18minThroughout this season take the time to remember what you're grateful for. During this guided meditation led by Julie Potiker we focus on being thankful.Eagle Poem, by Joy HarjoTo pray you open your whole selfTo sky, to earth, to sun, to moonTo one whole voice that is you.And know there is moreThat you can’t see, can’t hear; Can’t know except in momentsSteadily growing, and in languagesThat aren’t always sound but otherCircles of motion.Like eagle that Sunday morningOver Salt River. Circled in blue skyIn wind, swept our hearts cleanWith sacred wings. We see you, see ourselves and knowThat we must take the utmost careAnd kindness in all things.Breathe in, knowing we are made ofAll this, and breathe, knowingWe are truly blessed because weWere born, and die soon within aTrue circle of motion,Like eagle rounding out the morningInside us.We pray that it will be doneIn beauty. In beauty.Joy Harjo, “Eagle Poem” from In Mad Love and War. She completes the meditation with a reading of the poem, "Mysteries, Yes", by Mary Oliver.Truly, we live with mysteries toomarvelous to be understood. How grass can be nourishing in themouths of the lambs. How rivers and stones are foreverin allegiance with gravitywhile we ourselves dream of rising. How two hands touch and the bonds will never be broken. How people come, from delight or the scars of damage,to the comfort of a poem.Let me keep my distance, always, from those who think they have the answers.Let me keep company always withthose who say "Look!" and laugh inastonishment, and bow their heads.~Mary Oliver, "Mysteries, Yes"Get the latest on mindfulness and meditation by subscribing to Julie Potiker's YouTube channel and Facebook page at Mindful Methods for Life. You will be focusing on hope that's all around you - and around the planet. She completes the meditation with a quote from Eric Liu.“To be optimistic is to assume things will work out. To be hopeful is to realize things can work out if you work at them. Hope requires responsibility and agency; optimism relieves us of both. In rooting for your sports team, choose optimism. Joy - Guided Meditation
15/10/2022 Duración: 18minWhere do you find joy? Within yourself, through others? In this guided meditation Julie Potiker helps you tap into your own healing energy infused with joy. Joy, by Donna AshworthJoy does not arrive with a fanfare,on a red carpet strewn with the flowers of a perfect life.Joy sneaks in, as you pour a cup of coffee, watching the sun hit your favorite tree, just right. And you usher joy away, because you are not ready for it.Your house is not as it must be,for such a distinguished guest. But joy cares nothing for your messy home,or your bank-balance,or your waistline, you see.Joy is supposed to slither through the cracks of your imperfect life, that’s how joy works. You cannot invite her, you can only be ready when she appears. And hug her with meaning, because in this very moment, joy chose you.Joy, by Donna AshworthGet the latest on mindfulness and meditation by subscribing to Julie Potiker's YouTube channel and Facebook page at Mindful Methods for Life. Six Senses Guided Meditation
05/10/2022 Duración: 23minTap into all your senses through this guided meditation led by Julie Potiker. She completes the meditation with her poem, "Softly Raining".Softly Raining, by Julie Potiker. An Acorn Woodpecker joined me as I sipped my morning coffee. Soon we were joined by a House Finch then an Allen’s Hummingbird.Sitting under the carob trees I heard a crackling sound, a gentle snapping, as rain drops landed on the round green leaves, and dripped from the long leathery carob pods. Some of the drops make spots on the outdoor sofa, a drop now and then wetting my ankle, wrist and hair.As the rhythm of the water gets faster, and more complex, it smells like fresh baked brownies, and maybe something too ripe, and sour, fermenting. The rain is now singing, the birds a mere whisper. I make my way inside to shelter from the rain, hoping to hear the bird symphony again tomorrow.-Softly Raining by Julie Potiker Get the latest on mindfulness and meditation by subscribing to Julie Potiker's YouTube channel and Facebook page at Mindful Me
