Almigos

Almigos is back this week to debate one of the biggest arguments on film twitter right now: which is the best year in film of the last decade: 2014 or 2017. Both years had excellent films out such as Guardians of the Galaxy, IT Chapter 1, Boyhood, and Baby Driver. Jon and I go head to head on a hefty debate which is the year that takes the crown in the 2010s. Make sure to comment and let us know who's your winner!

We're back! It's been a while since the last episode. Mainly because of a global pandemic rocking the world. Finally, Al and Jon regroup via skype to catch up on what they have been doing in the quarantine and give some recommendations for you guys to watch. Please forgive the audio quality in this one. This week we change pace from our usual movie talk to discussing what it's like living in New York City. Special guests Marcos Baistrocchi and Mehlum Kayamali (two out of towners) discuss  adjusting to life in New York after living all over and Jon and I talk about living here all our lives. Music defines us in a way that few other mediums really can and this past decade's music shaped us into the people we are today. This week on Almigos, Jon and I break down the nominations for the 91st Academy Awards! The Oscars are always a tough balance of the Superbowl for us film fans while also being the most frustrating thing to watch (also kinda like the Superbowl). Let us know your picks for what you think should win in each category and if you don't agree with ours... well keep it to yourself 

This week we tackle one of the hardest questions there is for film lovers: what are our favorite 10 films to be released in the last decade. We are joined by fan-favorite John Rizzo, to talk about some of our absolute favorite movies in the decade where we really found our love for movies.

It's that time of year again where we break down the latest Star Wars movie and slowly lose our sanity while talking about it. This week we have special guests Anthony Figliozzi and Joe Scaffidi to talk about Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker and what we thought of the Skywalker Saga in retrospect as it comes to a close. Yes, it's a lot of Harry Potter and Star Wars but like come on who wouldn't want to live there. 

This week on Almigos, one of our all-time favorite guests Alexa Pastor stops by to talk our favorite action movie heroes. This is a hard one folks, as Jon loves his 80's cheese and one-liners and I prefer our heroes with a bit more grit. I hope you enjoy this episode and have a Happy Thanksgiving.   

Feels so good to be back after a short break as Almigos returns in time for Halloween to talk about the movies that made turning off the lights a bit harder at night. Jon and I revisit some of the movies that left us terrified or left a serious uneasy impact the whole runtime. Have a spooky Halloween! 

For the first time in Almigos history, Al is not here! This episode was recorded when Al was on vacation so Jon brought along returning guest James Conti to have themselves a time. Join them as they discuss one of the most controversial and hilarious shows of all time: South Park!   

This week on Almigos we look a few months ahead into the future to look at what the rest of the year has to offer. Oscar contenders are starting to peak their head with such films as The Lighthouse, Joker, and The Irishman. This was a fun episode to do catching up over the last few weeks and what upcoming films we are the most excited for. 

Almigos officially has hit 75 episodes and we could not be more happy to announce The Filmmenials Youtube Channel! This is something Jon and I have both been looking forward too for a long time and extremely excited to talk about. The Filmmenials will be a look back and revisiting some of our childhood favorites and whether or not they hold up. So to celebrate this announcement this week we're going to be talking about some of the movies we're going to be talking about it . 

We gave you more than enough time to see Quentin Tarantino's 9th film: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This week special guest Joe Scanni returns to the show to talk everything OUATIH and what we thought of the film.  

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has finally been released and marks the 9th film by legendary director Quentin Tarantino. This week Jon and I look back on Tarantino's historic filmography and pick our top 5 favorite scenes he's made. That means lots of blood, obscure pop songs and long conversations about royale's with cheese. 

We all love a happy ending, where the couple throughout our story overcome their obstacles and live happily ever after. These are not the movies we are talking about today. This week, Jon and I go break down some of the most tragic and doomed romances ever put to film and why we love them so much. 

Alright, Folks, we have officially passed the halfway point of 2019 and it is shaping up to one great year for movies. It's only July and we have already had some of the biggest events of the year with Endgame and Aladdin breaking box office records every week. Indie movies have also been killing it with Booksmart and Climax giving some of the most unique experiences in the theater this year. 2019 still has a lot more to offer but for right now check out Jon and I's favorite movies so far in 2019. 

This week on Almigos we dive into the series that coined the phrase "Survival Horror" and revolutionized the horror genre for video games. Special guest Evan Caffero joins Jon and I as we break down what we love about this series and its bumpy road in the past 20 years.
