  • Fluffy - November 29th, 2018

    29/11/2018 Duración: 23min

“Fluffy” has been crafting her skills in the music scene forever. Her debut album WhoIsFluffy? was featured a handful of collaborations, most notably, James Franco (yes, THAT James Franco). Political and outspoken, Fluffy challenges your expectations of what an artist can be. Half cuban, half black panther; it was Serengeti who kinged Fluffy. “U not a queen, U a king,” said Serengeti. With dual degrees in business and journalism you can be certain she is incredibly thoughtful and intelligent in her approach. Part mogul, part artist, dichotemy is no stranger here. Music is stupid & intelligent; weird & somehow familiar. Her songs are brain-churning. Her sexiness is evident and her live show is captivating. Think Portishead meats Erykah Badu— her music massages the brain while tackling controversial topics like race and monogamy. Influences like Prince and Cudi are easy to hear. Radio One Chicago airs live every Thursday night on WLUW-FM from 6p to 8p cst.

    16/11/2018 Duración: 26min

Magix King, born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, has been practicing the art of hip-hop since first hearing a cipher in the park. Growing up he was surrounded by distractions but the love for music always kept his mind focused. “It started as just a way to get things off my mind, then I learned about the power of communication. I love the way it feels to hear a song and find comfort, feeling like somebody knows whats up”. Being family oriented connecting with someone, having the desire to comfort and entertain came naturally. “I remember how he was all about the people even since the beginning, open mics, shows or whatever it was he wouldn’t put the set together until we got there because he had to feel what the crowd needed to hear-nomme”. While growing, practicing and perfecting his art Magix understood that along with having a great music library, timing is everything. “My uncle used to tell me your music has to be able to stand for itself. Right now I have a strong movement behind me, Royal Lifes

    14/11/2018 Duración: 06min

Trace the Shadow is a 4 piece English/Spanish rock group hailing from the South side of Chicago. Originally started in 2009 by Jesse (Guitarist) and Rafael (Drummer), the band began as a group of high school kids playing at the local talent show with fellow classmate Anthony, who would later become the band’s singer and rhythm guitarist. Although the group’s first time playing together was done on short notice, we continued to play and develop as a band by playing outside of school. Following a series of talent shows over a span of 3 years, Arnold, former bassist of “The Minorities” was invited to join us in 2012. What was once an excuse to pick up instruments soon became a hobby for us. We enjoy playing live music whenever the opportunity arises. 25/10/2018 Duración: 23min

Obligatory Response, a band consisting of Vince Allen on lead guitar and Maria Diamantis on vocals and electronic sound, blend synthetic noise, guitar riffs and licks, and contra alto whaling to create rhythmic, heavenly chaos . Obligatory Response’s stage presence displays why Vince and Maria not only make a great couple but also a rocking musical duo. Vince, stoic yet comical, is a talented statue behind a guitar wielding rhythms that feed off of the sound patterns emitting from Maria’s amp enriched laptop. The combination of guitar and synthesized vibrations convert Maria into a possessed whaling siren beckoning patrons towards the stage to watch as she expresses herself through melodious lamentations and physical gyrations…..Obligatory Response is a yin and yang , a great force, free to experiment with sound at their discretion and provide audiences with the results. As a freshman he freestyle for No I.D. (president of Def Jam) when he visited his high school as a guest speaker and received a standing ovation. • Nora's Playlist - October 18th, 2018

    18/10/2018 Duración: 36min

Nora’s Playlist is where Photographer and Music Lover combine forces and become one! When I decided to create Nora’s Playlist, the purpose was to share with everyone the music I loved and discovered. As a live Music Photographer and Music Enthusiast, I thought it was the perfect combination to create one space for both my passions. Music is fuel for my veins, every tune, every lyric, makes a daily impact in my life. I always ask people “What’s your favorite band?” “What’s your favorite genre?” As humans, I believe we all connect somehow through music, embracing music and people is my muse. In my experience, initiating conversations with music, is a great way to form relationships, it’s the “Ice Breaker” and actually that’s one of my number one recommendation. • Fauvely - September 27th, 2018

    27/09/2018 Duración: 21min

Fauvely is the project of Chicago-based singer-guitarist Sophie Brochu, who creates deeply personal dream-pop music. After completing her master’s in fiction writing and feeling frustrated with the constraints of her craft, Sophie turned to music for its raw and immediate release. The title of her debut EP, Watch Me Overcomplicate This (Midwest Action, 2017), speaks to the confessional tone of songs that range from delicately self-effacing to hauntingly sad. Fauvely’s forthcoming LP, Tides, transports listeners to the salty coast of Sophie’s hometown, Savannah, GA. Louder and bolder than her EP, these intensely brooding songs are the result of a new confidence possessed by Sophie, and the desire to come to terms with haunting memories in a place revered for its beauty. Fauvely has cultivated a strong presence in Chicago, sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed artists Stella Donnelly, Gemma Ray, Ryley Walker, and Ultimate Painting. Radio One Chicago airs live every Thursday from 6p to 8p cst on 88.
