29/11/2021 Duración: 01h03minThe spiritual woozy psychedelia of Milan’s Al Doum and the Faryds gets us underway this week as we welcome longer nights with exceptional atmospheric music from all corners. No track encompasses that greater than the wonderful new Jessica Moss track on Constellation – it’s one to put the headphones on for, as is the stunner from Canadian compatriot Tanya Tagaq, whose line in award-winning throat singing never fails to mesmerise and entrance in equal measure. Elsewhere this week, there’s hyper atmospheric music from Tristan Arp and Futoshi Moriyama 森山ふと contrasting with experimental club bangers from Klahrk and Grove, with Uruguayan folk, and a welcome return to Gorge music rounding off some of this show’s highlights. #347 – The Eccentronic Research Council, Trupa Trupa, Juçara Marçal, Bad Tracking, Sophie Cooper, VÄLVĒ - 15 November 2021
15/11/2021 Duración: 58minLondon label Mais Um’s ear for extraordinary music from Brazil continues unabated with the exceptional track that opens this week’s Independent Music Podcast. The music of Juçara Marçal is relatively new to us, but the first few bars of her astonishing track ‘Crash’ sink their hooks into you very quickly. It’s a stunning way to get going. What follows is an otherworldly journey through genres, with a little more guitar than usual this time around. We have the debut EP from Irish indie punks M(h)aol, experimental trombone folk from Yorkshire’s Sophie Cooper, dub techno workouts from Autumns just to name a few. We also have the blistering collaboration between Sepultura co-founder Iggor Cavalera, Venezuelan electronic producer Cardopusher, and Dwid Hellion, founder of early hardcore trailblazers Integrity, coming together as Corroded Spiral on pod favourites Phantom Limb. If that’s not enough. We throw in some Greek electronics, modern classical, Polish punk, and a little bit more for good measure. Tracklisting

#346 – Blawan, The Oscillation, Raja Kirik, Seekersinternational & Roger Robinson, Hawthonn, Fine Place - 8 November 2021
08/11/2021 Duración: 01h07minWe keep reading about the new Blawan release “shedding the ‘techno’ box he has so often been put in” but his new, exceptional record on XL shows us a consistently innovative artist continuing a journey we’ve enjoyed since ‘Getting Me Down’ back in 2011. It’s a must-listen and a probably must-buy for those who like your electronics a little off-kilter. But that’s a common reason for listening to this pod, as is the consistently extraordinary dark music from across the genres. This week we have the latest in a rapid-fire release schedule of dark ambient music being put out by Leeds’ Hawthonn, we have tasty experimental metal from EXSUL, a remarkable traditional dance/distinctly non-traditional record from Indonesian duo Raja Kirik to fall in love with. The best psych rock of the year (as far as we’ve heard) from The Oscillation, jungle-cum-ragga from Seekersinternational, synth pop from The Organizing Committee, and an afro-caribbean-fused club banger from newcomer Obeka are just some of the delights to get stu

#345 – Aya, Shackleton, Jerusalem In My Heart, Mario Batkovic & James Holden, Christina Vantzou, Majid Soula - 1 November 2021
01/11/2021 Duración: 01h09minThere’s nothing that’ll kickstart your body quite like a funky slice of Algerian-born Amazigh music. The lead track from Habibi Funk’s Majid Soula compilation is a real hip-shaker, and just the tonic for whatever ales you this week. There’s a lot more than that to get stuck into as well – from clattering percussive electronics from the new Jerusalem in My Heart LP, to exceptional experimental folk from Maria Elena Silva, via boogielicious reggae thanks to Kalita Records raiding the expensive section of your long-lost music store. Elsewhere, we never tire of celebrating the new Aya record on Hyperdub – a truly forward-looking masterpiece – nor the extent of sounds that Mario Batkovic can squeeze out of an accordion. On this track he’s collaborating with James Holden, and the results are fantastic. And that’s not all: jazz, Indian classical fused with industrial sounds, the latest wonderful record from Shackleton, and the ambient atmospheric sounds of Christina Vantzou make this week’s show a pleasure from star
