  • Has there ever been a bigger gap between performance and expectation?

    12/06/2025 Duración: 01h02min

The Seattle Sounders turned easily their most disappointing performance of the season. What makes it sting even worse is that expectations were quite high for their game against the Vancouver Whitecaps, who were missing more than half their starters and were coming off a nearly team-wide bout of “gastrointestinal symptoms.” The Sounders responded by looking flat and almost uninterested at times.Jeremiah and Aaron dig into that performance before power-ranking the five teams they each think have the best shots at winning the Club World Cup.Sponsors

  • Club World Cup preview

  • There's interesting precedent for what players want from MLS

    07/06/2025 Duración: 49min

It was an interesting week surrounding the Sounders, giving Jeremiah and Niko plenty to talk about. First off, they give some updates on the players’ protest and some of the reasoning behind why they believe MLS should be giving them a bigger cut of the Club World Cup prize pool. They also discuss the Vancouver Whitecaps’ situation, which has put at least some doubt into whether or not Sunday’s game will happen.Follow Niko Moreno on BlueSky and YouTube.Sponsor

  • May Mailbag: Why the Sounders are protesting Club World Cup bonuses

    04/06/2025 Duración: 01h14min

Jeremiah and Aaron are back with another mailbag episode, answering questions that were submitted in May. Before they dig into some of those questions, though, they spend quite a bit of time discussing the Sounders players’ recent protest over their share of Club World Cup bonuses and specifically owner Adrian Hanauer’s response. As a reminder, all these questions came from our private Discord, which is available to all subscribers at the Supporter ($75/year) level or above. • What advanced stats say about Sounders

    03/06/2025 Duración: 37min

If you’ve spent anytime looking at various advanced analytics this year, you’ve probably noticed that the Seattle Sounders are looking an awful lot like a pressing team. Recently, Jamon Moore of American Soccer Analysis wrote about that. Jeremiah discusses what analytics are saying about the Sounders.Jamon Moore is a contributor on American Soccer Analysis. • Sounders just set themselves up for what could be an epic run into the Club World Cup

    30/05/2025 Duración: 50min

The Seattle Sounders are coming off a massive win over San Diego FC which sets up a pretty enticing stretch to send them into the Club World Cup break. If the Sounders can win their next two games, they’ll take over first place in the Western Conference. Jeremiah and Niko discuss the San Diego game and look ahead to Minnesota and Vancovuer on the latest “What we learned this week.”Sponsor

  • Sounders so far proving resilient

    28/05/2025 Duración: 01h27min

We are so close to the Sounders that sometimes it can be a little easy to take what we have for granted. That was probably the biggest takeaway from Charles Boehm’s stint as a guest co-host on this week’s show. Boehm, who has an upcoming feature about Ryan Kent on MLSSoccer.com, marveled at how effectively the Sounders have been able to maintain their form. He and Jeremiah also look ahead to what promises to be a very interesting stretch of games in which the Sounders will play the current Top 3 teams in the Western Conference in consecutive games.Follow Charles on Bluesky and read his work on MLSSoccer.com.Sponsor

  • There are no excuses against FC Dallas

    24/05/2025 Duración: 53min

FC Dallas comes to Seattle in the middle of a three-game road trip that seemingly puts them at a significant disadvantage, coming a few days after they went to New York and played 120 minutes a few days before they head to FC Cincinnati. To make matters worse, they’re also missing star midfielder Luciano Acosta. It all sets up quite nicely for the Sounders in general and Jesús Ferreira in particular. Jeremiah and Niko both believe the striker is due for a big game.In the second half of the show, Jeremiah and Niko discuss a newsy week in the Club World Cup that saw players expressing frustration over the bonus structure and FIFA reacting to slow ticket sales by reducing prices for many games.Sponsor

  • Should we be expecting more from Jesús Ferreira?

    21/05/2025 Duración: 54min

Coming off a three-game road trip in which the Sounders got four points, Jeremiah and Aaron express mostly satisfaction with the overall play even if they weren’t entirely happy with the results. But one player who is harder to figure out is Jesús Ferreira, who seems to be doing a lot of things right but not performing how we thought we would. Jeremiah and Aaron try to project how he might do the rest of the year.Sponsor

  • We're not freaking out about the loss to LAFC and neither should you

    16/05/2025 Duración: 43min

The Sounders are coming off a disappointing 4-0 loss to LAFC, but that doesn’t mean Jeremiah or Niko are particularly worried about the longterm ramifications. They discuss the takeaways from that match as well as look ahead to Saturday’s Cascadia Cup clash with the Portland Timbers on the latest episode of “What we learned this week.”Sponsor

  • Whitecaps showing no signs of slowing down

    13/05/2025 Duración: 54min

The Seattle Sounders are moving up the Western Conference table and to help give us a better sense of how they stack up, we brought back Matt Doyle for another episode of “How the West will be won.” Matt continues to be very impressed by the play of the Vancouver Whitecaps and far less impressed by the play of the Portland Timbers as he and Jeremiah dig into the other Western Conference contenders. You can read Matt Doyle every week at MLSsoccer.com, watch his tactical videos on Bluesky and subscribe his new “Tactics Free Zone” newsletter.***Nos Audietis is the flagship podcast for Sounder at Heart, which became a reader-supported website on Aug. 21. • Could the 4-2-3-1 be here to stay?

    09/05/2025 Duración: 54min

It was another busy week around the Sounders with a U.S. Open Cup match and a signing. Jeremiah and Niko dig into another episode of “What we learned this week” that focuses a lot on the development of younger players who appeared in the Tacoma Defiance match against the Portland Timbers. Somewhat connected to the Defiance match was a second consecutive match where we saw the 4-2-3-1. They discuss what kind of tactical tweaks that could bring. They also give a scouting report of the Houston Dynamo.Sponsor

  • Yes, the Sounders might actually be good

    08/05/2025 Duración: 56min

The vibes are starting to feel pretty good around these parts after the Sounders dominated St. Louis City and the Tacoma Defiance gave the Portland Timbers everything they could handle in the U.S. Open Cup. Jeremiah and Aaron break down what has fueled the Sounders’ turnaround.Sponsor

  • The Defiance have a chance to do the funniest thing…

    06/05/2025 Duración: 34min

Due to the silliness surrounding MLS teams’ participation in the U.S. Open Cup, the Tacoma Defiance have taken the Sounders’ place in the tournament. They’ve won their first three games and have now earned the opportunity to become the first MLS Next Pro affiliate to face a MLS first team in actual competition. Even more silly, that team is the Portland Timbers. To help us understand the Timbers’ approach to this game, we reached out to Tyson Alger, who runs the Substack I-5 Corridor, which covers mostlyl the Oregon Ducks and the Timbers. He thinks the Timbers will likely field a relatively veteran-heavy team.We also discuss the evolution of Merritt Paulson, who Alger notes has decreased his public presence but that “the poster inside never dies.”Sponsor

  • An oral history of the Red Card Wedding (revisited)

    05/05/2025 Duración: 43min

It was almost exactly 10 years ago that the Portland Timbers visited Starfire Stadium for what would ultimately be known as the Red Card Wedding. With the Timbers returning to Starfire on Tuesday, now seems like a good time to re-release this episode that was first recorded in 2017.Back then, Jeremiah teamed up with former SB Nation colleague Richard Farley and Soccer Made in PDX’s Chris Rifer to record and produce this episode. It features such notable voices as Brad Evans, Lamar Neagle, Andy Rose, Ross Fletcher, Caleb Porter, Jack Jewsbury and Nat Borchers as well as Jeff Hosking, who was an assistant ref in the game. For the uninitiated, this was among the more surreal games in Sounders history. It most famous featured Clint Dempsey getting ejected and literally ripping up the referee’s notebook, but it also featured two other red cards (which combined with Obafemi Martins’ injury forced the Sounders to finish the game with seven players).Even before that, the match was shaping up as a classic with two heat

  • Reasons to think Sounders can weather Jordan Morris' absence

    02/05/2025 Duración: 01h13s

Niko and Jeremiah are back together for another installment of “What we learned this week” and they’re mostly focused on how the Sounders will cope with Jordan Morris likely being out at least six weeks. There’s no sugar-coating that the injury diagnosis was bad, but there is reason to think that it won’t be a season-killer. First and foremost, both of them like the way Danny Musovski has been playing and how he projects going forward. They also like what they’re hearing about Osaze De Rosario, the Tacoma Defiance striker who is off to a blazing start this year.Of course, they also find time to give Stefan Frei his flowers for hitting 400 appearances with the Sounders and give a scouting report on Saturday’s opponent, St. Louis City.Sponsor

  • Is Danny Musovski the real deal?

    01/05/2025 Duración: 01h06min

The Sounders are coming off a 1-1 tie with the Colorado Rapids. That leaves them with a 3-3-4 record and sitting eighth in the West. Jeremiah and Mark give some of their big picture assessments of the season up to this point. One big point of discussion is the play of Danny Musovski, who has now scored in three straight games and seems to be doing it in repeatable fashion.Tom Biro’s GoFundMe.Sponsor

  • How much internal competition is too much internal competition?

    25/04/2025 Duración: 48min

From all appearances, it looks like the Seattle Sounders are going to run back the same lineup they used last week despite the availability of several would-be starters. On “What we learned this week” Jeremiah and Niko Moreno discuss whether or not that’s the right call. They also give a brief preview of the upcoming game against the Colorado Rapids.Sponsors

  • Mailbag: Has the Apple deal hurt Sounders' regional presence?

    23/04/2025 Duración: 01h16min

Jeremiah and Aaron are back together again just in time to discuss Saturday’s win over Nashville SC and answer April’s mailbag questions. Among the topics they discuss are the impact of the Apple deal on regional relevancy, Jesus Ferreira’s play and who they think will be the team’s best attacking group.Sponsors

  • Maybe we were all wrong about Zack Steffen

    22/04/2025 Duración: 57min

We are back with another episode of “How the West will be won” and Backheeled’s Joe Lowery is again in the co-pilot seat. He and Jeremiah go through the most interesting stories in the Western Conference, one of which is the retribution of Zack Steffen who has been playing very well for the Rapids.Sponsors
