She re-designated as an Aerospace Maintenance Duty Officer in December 2005. Summers' assignments span experience in both the surface fleet and naval aviation; she is a veteran of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and several combat deployments. Summers resigned her commission in 2010, and joined the staff of Intersections International as Program Manager for the Veteran-Civilian Dialogue program in April 2013.
