Sonic creator Yuji Naka goes off on Square-Enix, right before they sell off the studios behind Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Thief. Embracer is in the process of buying them for 300 million. Also in the news, Xbox and Bethesda Games showcase announced for June, Sega will delist old Sonic games from digital stores and it's leaked that Sony is working on a game preservation initiative. Also in the news, PlayStation acquires Jade Raymond's Haven Studios, the NFL is making an annual VR football game, a new Witcher game confirmed to be in development on Unreal Engine 5 and someone gets Doom to run on a text-based terminal. Dan and Dave took a bit of a hiatus they're back with all the news of the past few weeks. Sony makes a move on Bungie and it's now a part of the PlayStation family. You thought the Zynga acquisition was big? Microsoft said hold my beer. They acquire Activision Blizzard for $69B making them one of the largest game publishing companies in the world. Also in the news, E3 may be cancelled this year, Nintendo to stop credit card payments on the 3DS and Wii U eShop and Zotac releases a peanut butter for gamers. Also on the show, we talk to Leroy Patterson, the Human Tackboard on wrestling, game testing and having the largest collection of the Sneak King games in the world.

Video Game companies have been going through an acquisition frenzy and this week Take 2 buys mobile giant Zynga. What does this mean for gaming as a whole and what does this mean for Take 2 properties in the mobile space. Also in the news, Sony is ramping up PS4 production amid chip shortages, Twisted Metal may be coming back and Namco could be making a new Killer Instinct game on episode 301.

We've done it folks, EPISODE 300 is here!!! 6 and a half years of doing this podcast and we're not stopping anytime soon. On this special episode, Dan and Dave announce their game of the year, Sony drops more info on the PSVR2 and E3 goes digital for a third year in a row. It's the first episode of the year and it's looks like it's gonna be a good one.

As 2021 comes to a close, Dan and Dave look back at the stories that made 2021. And since this is the last episode of the year, they also go over their game of the year nominations. Who will get nominated and more importantly, who do you think will win?
