Episodios

  • 460 - Recursion by Blake Crouch with guest Misty Bennett

    17/09/2019 Duración: 01h06min

Check it out! It's our first Patreon Pick of 2019 and it's a whopper. Here you have over an hour discussion about the book, and over on our Patreon, there's a 35+ minute spoiler talk!   Huge thanks to Misty Bennett for choosing the book and joining us to review it. Reminder - any Patron on our Patreon who is contributing at the $10/month level is entitled to choose one book per year for us to review on the podcast - and they can choose to join us on the podcast as a guest reviewer! There are 12 Patreon Pick spots total, so don't sleep on it!

  • 459 - Tales From the Crust with guest David James Keaton

    05/09/2019 Duración: 01h40min

Apologies for the lateness of the episode. Robb thinks he got mono, but not from kissing. Anyway, it took a little extra time to build up the energy to read like thirty pizza horror stories. But here we are, and with our favorite guest, no less! It's a banger of an episode. Be sure to pick up a copy of Tales From the Crust, and don't sleep on picking up David's book The Last Projector while you're at it!

  • 458 - The Warehouse by Rob Hart

    20/08/2019 Duración: 53min

It's been a long time coming! You've heard the interview with Rob, now hear our thoughts on the reading experience. And no surprise here, spoiler talk is coming in hot, so hit up our PATREON for all of our spoiler talks!

  • 457 - Rob Hart Interview

    14/08/2019 Duración: 01h11min

Check it out! We got Rob Hart on the horn just before he heads across the pond to promote the UK release of The Warehouse! It's a great hour-plus conversation. And check back in a week when we post up our review of the book to coincide with the US release. Excellent stuff!

  • 456 - Drive Thru Crematorium by Jon Bassoff

    10/08/2019 Duración: 45min

Apologies for the slight delay this week! We had a lot of reading and conducting interviews to do, so editing took a back seat. But don't worry, your next episode will be back to the usual schedule, which means you'll be getting it in just a few days. Thanks for your patience. Now enjoy the madness that is our review of the Drive Thru Crematorium.

  • 455 - Wanderers by Chuck Wendig

    01/08/2019 Duración: 50min

This one has been hotly anticipated. The newest from Chuck Wendig, Wanderers! It's not a Miriam Black book. It's a standalone story that is epic and sprawling and very interesting. Check out what we thought, and contribute to our Patreon at $1/Month for about thirty minutes of spoiler talk coming at you super fast!

  • 454 - Paul Tremblay interview

    24/07/2019 Duración: 01h23min

Check it out! Well over an hour of discussion with Paul Tremblay about his latest book Growing Things and Other Stories, and a whole lot more.

  • 453 - The Fearing book one Fire and Rain by John FD Taff

    18/07/2019 Duración: 42min

It's a bit of a shorty because we were saving room for an interview. Sadly, the interview was postponed, so we decided to run the review on its own. Hopefully schedules will align better soon so we can have John on. Until then, enjoy our discussion of The Fearing book one!

  • 452 - Growing Things and Other Stories by Paul Tremblay

    11/07/2019 Duración: 48min

It's the first short story collection we've reviewed since the summer of 2017. Yah. That means Paul Tremblay is a big deal. Check out our thoughts on a bunch of the stories, and head over to our Patreon and sign up for $1 per month for some spoiler talk too!

  • 451 - The Grand Dark by Richard Kadrey

    04/07/2019 Duración: 54min

Check it out! We finally got around to reviewing a book by legendary Sandman Slim author Richard Kadrey. It's a standalone novel that we both really enjoyed. Don't forget to hit up our Patreon for spoiler about this book!

  • 450 - End of the Ocean by Matthew McBride

    27/06/2019 Duración: 57min

Guys! It's been way too long since we've had a Matthew McBride book to talk about, and so it's awesome that one finally dropped in our laps. We've been following some of the background of the development of this book for over four years, and it's great to see what McBride did with it. Spoiler, it turned out pretty awesome. Check out our Patreon for spoiler talk about this book and tons of others as well!

  • 449 - Booked. Prom 2019

    18/06/2019 Duración: 01h46min

Hello everyone! You read that right, this is the first ever Booked. prom episode. What's that mean? Well, we talk about prom stuff, and we watched a prom movie, and we voted for a king and queen. One note - the audio is a little poor on this episode, we think due to the wrong mic being recorded on Robb's side. Sorry about that, but we hope you still enjoy it! If you're looking for the full experience, check out the Booked. facebook page for the full video! Next week we review End of the Ocean by Matthew McBride!

  • 448 - One Small Sacrifice by Hilary Davidson

    11/06/2019 Duración: 49min

Okay nerds, we're back with our 14th book review of the year, which is our first ever review of Hilary Davidson! We had her on a Noir at the Bar episode reading from Blood Always Tells, and now we're here to give you the skinny on One Small Sacrifice. And as always, please hit up our Patreon for spoiler talk for this review, as well as many others.

  • 447 - Cari Mora by Thomas Harris

    06/06/2019 Duración: 01h13min

They can't all be winners guys. Check out our review of the latest book by legendary author of the Hannibal series of books, which, sadly, didn't fare too well with us. After that, we chat about Livius going to France, the other books we've been reading, Chernobyl, gay rights, and more.

  • 446 - Sinner Man by Lawrence Block

    23/05/2019 Duración: 01h07min

We're both back! This time around, we're reviewing Lawrence Block's first ever crime book, Sinner Man - which was recently re-released by Hard Case Crime. Check out our review, and see what Robb's been up to in his absence. And as always, please head over to our Patreon page and throw us a little cash. Every little bit helps.

  • 445 - The Mister by EL James featuring guest reviewer Dino Parenti

    15/05/2019 Duración: 01h08min

We're back with another review. This time, it's the much anticipated EL James book The Mister, the first outside of her Fifty Shades series as far as I'm aware. The weird thing about this particular review is that Robb is completely absent. That's right, for listeners, you may remember that Robb said the only way this book was going to be reviewed was if Livius found someone else to review it with him. Well he did. Now we have scientific proof of what the podcast is like without Robb. Good? Bad? I'll let you be the judge.

  • 444 - Interlude

    09/05/2019 Duración: 55min

We're comin in hot with an interlude. This time around we discuss some EL James, the etiquette of tagging authors in negative reviews, how tall authors are, learning how to shower in school, GI Joe action figures, and much much more.

  • 443 - The Pandora Room by Christopher Golden

    02/05/2019 Duración: 51min

We're back with another review! This time, we're going back to the Golden well, with The Pandora Room. Our previous review of his work was the 2014 winter horror book Snowblind. If you're not already supporting us on our Patreon, you can sign up for as low as $1/month RIGHT HERE, and get access to spoiler talk to this episode, and dozens of others that we've already reviewed.

  • 442 - Apathy and Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan

    25/04/2019 Duración: 56min

It's a book that we've raved about for the eight years that we've been doing the podcast, and it's only fitting that for our 250th book review milestone, we finally take on Apathy and Other Small Victories. Check it out!

  • 441 - Glimpse by Jonathan Maberry

    19/04/2019 Duración: 52min

We have now officially read all five of the Stoker Awards Best Novel category! Check out how we rated the fifth of five, and head over to our Patreon for some spoiler talk.
