Exodus Community: Teachings

We use a teaching on texts from Nehemiah, Luke and 1 Corinthians to launch into a community discussion on our thoughts about action.

We continue looking at the way that Jesus is the word of the Old Testament in flesh. We discuss the themes of abundance, marriage, and transformation and how Jesus’ miracle at the wedding in Cana enfleshes all these themes. We then ponder what that means for the church today…

We look at several echoes of the text in the Old Testament, how the voice of God, water and the command to not be afraid all come together in the person of Christ.

John the Baptist is the prophet of preparation, appearing while the people are waiting for the Messiah. Today we look at his sermon in the wilderness, and how we are to prepare for the moments of Christ’s coming by being formed into a people of substance.

This week we discuss the difference between a public announcement of Good News and a quiet, private message of personal salvation.

Christ didn’t die so we could be good moral people, He died to save uf from the powers of sin and death. Today we discuss the difference between living a life of moralistic duty and living a life of Christ-centered love.

We celebrate communion, reflect on Christ’s presence, and prepare for gospel mission.
