In today's sanga, Śrīla Dhanurdhara Swami gives an introductory talk for his bhakti immersion retreat at Shyam Ashram in Cali, Colombia.

The following is a recording of a talk Śrīla Dhanurdhara Swami gave at the home of Gopa Kisora and Jaya Sri Radhe on Saturday, March 11, 2023. This talk includes Dhanurdhara Swami remembering His Holiness Kadamba Kanana Swami, who recently left his body on March 9, 2023, in Sri Vrindavan-dhama.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 25 Text 6 eṣāṁ śriyāvaliptānāṁ kṛṣṇenādhmāpitātmanām dhunuta śrī-mada-stambhaṁ paśūn nayata saṅkṣayam   TRANSLATION [To the clouds of destruction King Indra said:] The prosperity of these people has made them mad with pride, and their arrogance is backed up by Kṛṣṇa. Now go and remove their pride and bring their animals to destruction.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 25 Text 1 śrī-śuka uvāca indras tadātmanaḥ pūjāṁ vijñāya vihatāṁ nṛpa gopebhyaḥ kṛṣṇa-nāthebhyo nandādibhyaś cukopa ha   TRANSLATION Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: My dear King Parīkṣit, when Indra understood that his sacrifice had been put aside, he became furious with Nanda Mahārāja and the other cowherd men, who were accepting Kṛṣṇa as their Lord.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 24 Text 35 kṛṣṇas tv anyatamaṁ rūpaṁ gopa-viśrambhaṇaṁ gataḥ śailo ’smīti bruvan bhūri balim ādad bṛhad-vapuḥ   TRANSLATION Kṛṣṇa then assumed an unprecedented, huge form to instill faith in the cowherd men. Declaring “I am Govardhana Mountain!” He ate the abundant offerings.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 24 Text 27 hūyantām agnayaḥ samyag brāhmaṇair brahma-vādibhiḥ annaṁ bahu-guṇaṁ tebhyo deyaṁ vo dhenu-dakṣiṇāḥ   TRANSLATION The brāhmaṇas who are learned in the Vedic mantras must properly invoke the sacrificial fires. Then you should feed the priests with nicely prepared food and reward them with cows and other gifts.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 24 Text 8 śrī-nanda uvāca parjanyo bhagavān indro meghās tasyātma-mūrtayaḥ te ’bhivarṣanti bhūtānāṁ prīṇanaṁ jīvanaṁ payaḥ   TRANSLATION Nanda Mahārāja replied: The great Lord Indra is the controller of the rain. The clouds are his personal representatives, and they directly provide rainwater, which gives happiness and sustenance to all creatures.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 16 Text 35 tapaḥ sutaptaṁ kim anena pūrvaṁ nirasta-mānena ca māna-dena dharmo ’tha vā sarva-janānukampayā yato bhavāṁs tuṣyati sarva-jīvaḥ   TRANSLATION Did our husband carefully perform austerities in a previous life, with his mind free of pride and full of respect for others? Is that why You are pleased with him? Or did he in some previous existence carefully execute religious duties with compassion for all living beings, and is that why You, the life of all living beings, are now satisfied with him?

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 16 Text 23 ittham sva-gokulam ananya-gatiṁ nirīkṣya sa-strī-kumāram ati-duḥkhitam ātma-hetoḥ ājñāya martya-padavīm anuvartamānaḥ sthitvā muhūrtam udatiṣṭhad uraṅga-bandhāt   TRANSLATION The Lord remained for some time within the coils of the serpent, imitating the behavior of an ordinary mortal. But when He understood that the women, children and other residents of His village of Gokula were in acute distress because of their love for Him, their only shelter and goal in life, He immediately rose up from the bonds of the Kāliya serpent.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 15 Texts 49-50 viṣāmbhas tad upaspṛśya daivopahata-cetasaḥ nipetur vyasavaḥ sarve salilānte kurūdvaha vīkṣya tān vai tathā-bhūtān kṛṣṇo yogeśvareśvaraḥ īkṣayāmṛta-varṣiṇyā sva-nāthān samajīvayat TRANSLATION As soon as they touched the poisoned water, all the cows and boys lost their consciousness by the divine power of the Lord and fell lifeless at the water’s edge. O hero of the Kurus, seeing them in such a condition, Lord Kṛṣṇa, the master of all masters of mystic potency, felt compassion for these devotees, who had no Lord other than Him. Thus He immediately brought them back to life by showering His nectarean glance upon them.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Canto 10 Chapter 15 Text 47 evaṁ sa bhagavān kṛṣṇo vṛndāvana-caraḥ kvacit yayau rāmam ṛte rājan kālindīṁ sakhibhir vṛtaḥ TRANSLATION O King, the Supreme Lord Kṛṣṇa thus wandered about the Vṛndāvana area, performing His pastimes. Once, surrounded by His boyfriends, He went without Balarāma to the Yamunā River.

Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya-līlā Chapter 9 Text 40 prabhura prabhāve loka āila daraśane lakṣārbuda loka āise nā yāya gaṇane TRANSLATION Due to the influence of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu, many millions of men came just to see Him. Indeed, the assembly being unlimited, its members could not be counted.

Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya-līlā Chapter 9 Text 25 vipra bale, — ei tomāra darśana-prabhāve tomā dekhi’ gela mora ājanma svabhāve TRANSLATION The brāhmaṇa replied, “This is all due to Your influence, Sir. After seeing You, I have lost my lifelong practice.

Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya-līlā Chapter 9 Text 10 sei saba loka prabhura darśana-prabhāve nija-nija-mata chāḍi’ ha-ila vaiṣṇave TRANSLATION By the influence of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, all these people abandoned their own opinions and became Vaiṣṇavas, devotees of Kṛṣṇa.
