Let God be true and every man a liar.

What then is the superiority of the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? (Rom 3:1)Much in every way! First of all, that they were entrusted with the very words of God! (Rom 3:2)For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief nullify the faithfulness of God? (Rom 3:3)By no means! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar, just as it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, and You may prevail when You are judged." (Rom 3:4)

We intended to look at Romans 3:1 today, but the Lord took our study today to John 11:25-26. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. (John 11:25)And everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:26)

The Apostle Paul today makes the astounding statement that a true "Jew" is a heart condition! For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in flesh; (Rom 2:28)but he is a Jew that is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, in the spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not from men but from God. (Rom 2:29)

What is the opposite of the name of the Lord being blasphemed? The name of the Lord being praised by all that we do!

"For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you."

"Behold, you are called a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God, (Rom 2:17)and know His will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law, (Rom 2:18)and are convinced that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those in darkness..." (Rom 2:19)

Today we start God's case against the "religionist." "Behold, you who are called a Jew, and boast in God..."

"To those who by the endurance of good works are seeking glory and honor and incorruption—eternal life. (Rom 2:7) But to those who are contentious, and who disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath..." (Rom 2:8)

But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God, (Rom 2:5) who “will recompense to each one according to his works”: (Rom 2:6) to those who by the endurance of good works are seeking glory and honor and incorruption—eternal life. (Rom 2:7) But to those who are contentious, and who disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, (Rom 2:8) tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that works evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; (Rom 2:9)

But do you suppose this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things yet doing them, that you will escape the judgment of God? (Rom 2:3)Or do you despise the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? (Rom 2:4)

"Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, everyone who judges, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself, for you who judge are practicing the same things. But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth upon those practicing such things." (Rom 2:1-2)

"...who, having known the righteous judgment of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also approve of those who practice them. (Rom 1:32)Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, everyone who judges, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself, for you who judge are practicing the same things. (Rom 2:1)

"And just as they did not approve to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do the things which are not fitting;" (Rom 1:28)

Today, Paul aims his cannon of the righteous judgment of God towards homosexuals, and, throwing in 1 Cor 6:9-10, other groups as well. For this reason God gave them up to shameful lusts; for even their women exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature, (Rom 1:26)and likewise also the men, having forsaken the natural use of the woman, were inflamed by their lust for one another, men with men, committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error. (Rom 1:27) By the time he is finished (3:19), no one will be able to stand, apart from a SAVIOR!

Today we're looking at the sin of "asserting ourselves to be wise," when in actuality, we are fools. Because, having known God, they did not glorify Him as God, or give thanks, but became vain in their reasonings, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Rom 1:21)Asserting themselves to be wise, they became fools, (Rom 1:22)and changed the glory of the incorruptible God for a likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and reptiles. (Rom 1:23)

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of the own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies among themselves, (Rom 1:24) who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. (Rom 1:25)

"Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), (Matt 24:15)

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven upon all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. (Rom 1:18)Because that which is known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. (Rom 1:19)For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things made, both His eternal power and divinity, so that they are without excuse." (Rom 1:20)
