Showing much commitment to deer hunting, Austin Bittner is a 365-day a year hunter. He shares from his experiences some tips as well as some techniques on how you can hunt yourself. Starting with his own personal story, Austin talks about when he became a hunter – tracing it down to his first hunting with his father to when he started shooting rifles at around six years old. He then shares his 2018 season and some highlights and memorable encounters during deer hunting. Learn some great information about the type of sequence Austin uses when blatting, how he hunts at home, combatting skylighting, scent checking bucks, and the future of hunting.

This story is one that could not even be dreamed up. The was filming Matt from The Game for their show. After his deer came in we were sure he had put a great shot on that deer. As we are talking he looks behind me an sees another deer in the corn field. After getting the green light from Chip I had to self-film and shoot Matt’s bow which is left handed. He then said you might want to wait on the 2nd deer that he was a bigger one. The first deer almost winded us and turned back to the corn and the big boy started walk our way. As he steps out of the corn, I draw and he stops I was at full draw for 2 mins and had to bend down to make the shot at 25 yards he only ran about 75yards before pilling up. And with the help of On Track we found Matt’s deer that created an epic hunt.

Hunting isn’t just killing. You have to know the proper steps in hunting and care for the game, care for the meat, and have a lot of respect for the hunt. Jeanette Hall is a passionate hunter and a budding author. Growing up in the middle Tennessee out by a little tiny place called Brush Creek, Jeanette was taught to show respect for the hunt and would always be found in the creek fishing or turning over rocks looking for snakes and crawdads. She says a big component of hunting is not just going out there and shooting something, but having an adventure and enjoying what’s out there. Jeanette shares how she got into hunting, and talks about respecting the hunt and the harvest, the medical benefits of the animals we take, and going organic. She also dishes out some valuable tips on hunting and on setting hunting goals.

I’ve been a bowhunter since I was 10 years old. My uncles and father got me into hunting and I’ve been hooked ever since. I love hunting public lands, private land and finding deer. I love the challenge bowhunting brings and also using the knowledge and the skill that I have built and continue to build, in all kinds of ways to hunt whitetail. I learn more and more every time

Outside of the office, Damian has been an active volunteer with the Monte Vista Fire Department for 14 years and a member of the Colorado Fire Fighters Association. He’s an avid outdoorsman and has been a member of Ducks Unlimited for more than 15 years and served as the Chairman for the San Luis Valley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, a national non-profit organization. He has provided over 10 years of service as a personal trainer in health and fitness. So it was on October 26th. I honestly didn’t expect a whole lot, I had been sick that entire week, too, and I had just started to recover. And so we went in, he dropped me off at my stand at like…oh, it was probably about 2:00 in the afternoon. And I really didn’t expect anything to happen until, you know, later closer to nighttime, but it was like 4:00… Well, let me rewind. As I got up in the stand I realized it was…since it was October, there were still leaves on the trees. And I realized I didn’t have a whole lot of shooting lanes. In fact, I just kind of had the 20-yard area around tree stand. And I got to thinking, I was like, “If a buck comes up through here, he’s going to go up probably right up above me or he’s going to come right below me.” And so I climbed back down out of the tree stand, I went over to this spot about 30 yards away, and I trimmed like a big whole, a big shooting lane in that spot. I thought, you know, I don’t like g

Well I’ll tell you what, “Pro Talk Outdoors” in the beginning was something that we wanted to get started and just get some more information out there for folks, and I’ll admit that “Pro Talk Outdoors” was kind of a selfish thing for me. I selfishly started the podcast because I wanted to be able to have conversations with folks that I had a great deal of respect for and things that I can learn from. So, you know, you’re talking about your Mark Drurys, Bill Winkes, Don Higgins, I mean there’s so many great names of folks that we’ve had on our show that I’ve been able to learn a lot from, and I have a great deal of respect for them. So that’s kind of the beginning of “Pro Talk Outdoors” and as we’ve grown and started our show on CarbonTV called “In a Rut,” Deer Hunting – Pro Talk Outdoors Podcast – Dave Barrettour team has grown dramatically. You know, there are a lot of people that don’t get to experience the stuff like we get to, you know, where we can take the time off work to go out and be in the woods.
