More and more I need to trust in His definition of peace and not my own. My definitions and interpretations of peace are so wrong, so often that I need to learn to trust in His. Thankfully, God's peace is a gift that comes from a right relationship with Him, and it's a fruit of the Holy Spirit. And I want that fruit to be evident in my life.

Jesus instructed His followers to seek the Kingdom of God first and His righteousness… because the Kingdom of God changes everything. Our Messiah teaches us that Kingdom Life is the only life to pursue… everything else is incomplete and shallow.

Mercy is fueled by mercy received. Ephesians 2:4-5 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ.”

The one thing to remember about Kingdom Life is this… we serve at the pleasure of the King. We are not our own, we’ve been bought with a price. (1 Corinthians 6:20) Redemption set us free… how we use that freedom, reflects on how we feel about our King. We serve our King out of love and deep gratitude for all He has done… and is still doing in our lives. So, yes, I serve at the pleasure of the King.

There’s so much to mourn in this life—personal losses, community losses, even the brokenness of humanity itself. And Jesus leans into this truth, showing us that Kingdom Life gives us a different perspective on mourning. And this is a different perspective for sure—Jesus calls some people blessed who seem like the opposite. People who mourn, people who grieve, people who feel the weight of loss. How can mourning be a blessing? It’s a huge question.

The poor in spirit are sons and daughters who understand that their value is defined by the generous heart of God. We are blessed… set free, redeemed former beggars who retain the mindset of one.

Friendship with Jesus is a sacred and pure thing. This is not being buddies with Jesus… He’s not my BFF, not my bruh… our relationship is not ordinary! Our Lord is inviting us into a level of intimate friendship extended to obedient sons and daughters of God. This is a covenant level friendship, a love relationship found in the Trinity.

Temple Life… living life inside out, requires intimacy, connection, communion, union with God. My soul prospers when it is in intimate union with Him.

This desire to see God is so tied to the value I place on my soul (and its care). Do I value my soul like God values my soul? (He died to save it) Do I try to fit God into my values? Or do I really want to see my amazing God?

What we value is usually what we worship as well. To worship is to show love and devotion for something and give it preference over other things.

Temple life is a pure life, a life set apart, devoted to bringing glory, dedicated to worship God our creator. Pure thoughts, pure actions, what I allow in my body, my mind, and my spirit… what I feed my soul with must honor His Temple.

You belong to God. You’re his. He is yours. Your body, my body is His temple… not my temple, His temple. Ownership of who I am is not debatable anymore. Temple Life is about living life inside out. When our inner life influences our outer life instead of the other way around. Temple life is a God centered life where we embrace these truths that His word teaches us.

Imagine walking with Jesus as He leaves the wilderness behind and starts the journey towards the cross. There is a lot of time between the wilderness and the cross, so many important stories to consider and reflect on. I hope when we dig deeper into some of these events, we’ll learn to love Him in new ways.

The fact is that Suffering forces us to move in one direction or another… closer to God or away from God. 1. His purpose is greater than our suffering. (This doesn’t mean He doesn’t care) 2. That purpose is to make us more like Jesus. 3. Suffering is redemptive.

I believe one of the most powerful ways to hear God is through prayer. Prayer is relational, an intimate, ongoing two-way conversation with our Father.
