Even if a company is paying dividends, if they fail to reinvest in their business then the company will likely lose value at some point. They also discuss momentum versus tactical investing. Momentum investing is buying when the stock price is going up and selling when it is going down. Tactical investing places clients into a strategic asset allocation based on risk preference. Since buying stocks is taking ownership in a company, AMR suggests investing based on the value of the company vs. the intrinsic value.
