The end of the week is approaching and what a fascinating day of football yesterday, especially in the Carling Cup. Premier League leaders Chelsea fell 4-3 to Newcastle in an instant cup classic. Chelsea trailed 3-1 in the second half and went down to ten men through injury. They fought back resiliently to level the scoreline before Shola Ameobi (Ambeoi-like) headed in the winner from a corner. Not a good time to be a supporter on Merseyside. After Everton crashed out to Brentford on penalties the day before, the red half of Merseyside also fell on penalties, this time to Northampton Town.
