How do you grow a church? Great preaching is a must. Great worship band? A necessity. And, of course, persecution. Wait, what?

The early church was growing at a very rapid rate. For the first few chapters everything was going great. Then some problems arose. How it was handled gives us great insight on how we move forward when there are problems.

Living a life that is different from the dominate culture is hard. Sometimes there are things you have to give up and sometimes there are things you need to add. As we see this week, though, sometimes it changes the world.

NOTE: WE ARE SORRY FOR THE POOR AUDIO. WE HAD SOME ISSUES. What do you do when God doesn't act the way you want? Do you want to give up? Do you want to explain everything? Do you want Him under control. This week we talk about a time when God moved differently than He had before.

Have you ever witnesses something important? A crime? An accident? Something amazing? What is required of a witness? This week we talk about seeing and hearing and why it is so important.

Have you ever watched a sporting event and been totally engaged? What could be better than having a front row seat? Maybe participation in the event. This week we talk about the difference between participation and observation. There’s more risk in participation but the reward is totally worth it.

Have you ever heard anyone pray “In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?” Who or What is the Holy Spirit? What’s the point? This week we hope to have a conversation about both questions.

One of the patterns of our culture is that we can be anyone we want to be. We can do anything we want to do. Unfortunately that often ends up with failed relationships, failed health and, sometimes, a failed life. Jesus came to change all that. His best weapon is not the Bible or prayer. It’s community.

How can we reach people where they are at with the love of God? As our final guest speaker in the Different Voices series, Kelly Soifer challenges us to view those currently around us with the eyes of Christ and respond to their needs in love. Kelly is the Director of Recruiting and Leadership Development for the Free Methodist Church in Southern California.
